Thread regarding Intel Corp. layoffs

If you downsize LTD, there's no Intel Foundry in the next 5y

LTD is always understaffed for the work it got signed up for. Especially with the 5N4Y bullsh-t. Every engineer I know is busting their a-s, working long hours and burning out. If we're still not producing value, then it means the management horribly mismanaged and misidentified goals. Forcing layoffs on LTD means you lose experienced hard workers. It takes a decade to create more, assuming Intel will be around for it.

The bloating of LTD is not the real issue. It is the efficiency. It is running so inefficiently that if you cut the bloat, the work won't get done. They need to have someone who can effectively manage the fabs and incentivize them to stay and finish the job. And quite farming out all the work thinking it is saving money. It creates more inefficiencies.

😂 😂 LTD is beyond bloated!Take a look at Metals and Epi modules. Or 78 integration. Start here, and move to Etch and then litho.

OP are you setting up the excuse for why 5N4Y is going to fail miserably. I am sure that it has nothing to do with the work done so far being sub standard.

Hey LTD. Don't listen to these former Intel and current AMD worker a--hats. You guys are actually really appreciated by those of us in other departments. We know you are ki-ling it and working hard right now. It does su-k to be going through this right now. We are all in it together. Most of the negative people are AMD losers trying to twist the dagger and former Intel people still bitter about ACT and lamenting BK. I mean think about what a loser someone has to be to be crying in a layoff forum 8 years after you are let go complaining about Intel.

LTD is responsible for Intel being behind in process technology in the first place. The only people impressed with the work LTD does are the self admiring people in LTD. The most pompous and arrogant people at intel are from LTD.

LTD just seem to follow the script, rinse and repeat.
Cut the bullsh-t, lean out your development and stop going back multiple processes on new ones.
Ramp & HVM and to repeat so much duplicate WCR & Cost reduction with each roll out.

LTD does not need PhD to run modules. PhD position are best suited to CR, pathfinding and integration & foundry/process data analytics. But we won’t see any cuts in module engineers as they will justify their role as babysitters of billion dollars of tool that Intel owns. But when a tool breaks don’t due to serious issues, they don’t fix it, they call the vendor. Life is tough for everyone at Intel, I can barely focus on work. All of us and the 15000 who exit are victims of our upper management lack of foresight and poor decisions. We are no different to soldiers who are asked to march on and fight while the king and his ilk make decisions with zero repercussions for them.

LTD does not need 4000+ PhDs. What they need is around 800 good PhDs who know how to research, pathfinding and hungry to read and learn for finding new avenues and product designs. The factory, tools, process improvement ideally do not need PhDs. That's a waste of their time, education and efforts. This is known for long, but since they usually are or have been hired on visa, they can be the best slaves. If this is the mentality of a company what actually can you expect more?

Module is bloated and stealing a living. Fire Jeff and his bloated org. Fire every single GR10+ in module.

Integrators talking to other integrators?… sure they may all look busy and working long hours, but that does not bring home the cheese.

LTD is ridiculously bloated. Clueless leadership. Program managers galore. A ridiculously complex process flow. Self inflicted disaster. I miss the leadership of people like YEL who actually understood semiconductor physics.
