It's all Gary Cohn's doing. Look him up. He comes from Goldman Sachs (over 25 years there) and he KNOWS how to manipulate the market, what analysts want to hear/see and how to put lipstick on a pig. What makes IBM worth $200 a share?

Deficit and debt are not the same thing but neither are good.

Explain to me how Trump doubled the national debt?

2008 $10,025 Bank bailouts; quantitative easing (QE)
2009 $11,910 Bailout cost $250 billion; American Recovery and Reinvestment Act (ARRA) added $242 billion
2010 $13,562 ARRA added $400B; payroll tax holiday ended; Obama tax cuts; Affordable Care Act; Simpson-Bowles debt reduction plan
2011 $14,790 Debt crisis, recession, and tax cuts reduced revenue
2012 $16,066 Fiscal cliff
2013 $16,738 Sequester; government shutdown
2014 $17,824 QE ended; debt ceiling crisis
2015 $18,151 Oil prices fell
2016 $19,573 Brexit
2017 $20,245 Congress raised the debt ceiling
2018 $21,516 Trump tax cuts
2019 $22,719 Trade wars
2020 $26,945 COVID-19 and recession
2021 $28,428 COVID-19 and American Rescue Plan Act
2022 $30,928 Inflation Reduction Act
2023 $33,167

The above numbers are from the US Treasury.

I just don't see that in the numbers... Certainly, Obama doubled the debt, and Biden is close to add 10 trillion to the debt when he is done! Looks like Trump added about 6 trillion or so. You must be a Trump hater... From my perspective they are all id--ts and will make the country collapse because whether the President is Democrat or Republican, none of them cares about spending. The first step of redemption would be to first agree to not run a deficit each year, then either taxes will have to raise dramatically or we need a lot more people in this country... by more people, I mean people that are actually paying taxes. So, if the goal is to keep the all the borders wide open, we will need to make all these people legal very quickly so they can become 'paying citizens'!

@OP+1tUhYsUr The word you are searching for is WELL, you Arvind bootlicker. ‘Doing good’ is what you say when you mean someone is doing something beneficial for society, like a good deed or a good act, which he most definitely is not. Well is an adverb, good is mostly an adjective… oh nvm. This is what happens when you get rid of all the native English-speakers and editors at a company. And don’t even get me started on what he’s doing to artificially inflate the stock price. That would require you to understand how a ledger works.

@pkx+1tUhYsUr I thought that buy backs had cooled down a few years ago? (The FCF was needed for other purposes?)

IBM management is liquidating IBM assists, buying back shares to inflate the price, only fools can hold to IBM stock. At $190, dump it.

Anybody can bolster the stock price over a relatively period. This takes no skill - just a lack of conscience. And can it be sustained? Of course not. Sam Palmisano tried this too and almost destroyed IBM. Arvind is just Sam with a sh---y mustache.

IBM's approach is to eat the seed corn and pretend like there is more where that came from. But there is not; once they layoff all of that "expensive" talent from the US, India is incapable of replacing it. Arvind turns a blind eye to this because he will be long gone before that hits the fan.

Trump did a similar during his presidency - he doubled the national debt and the stock market sung his praises. Once he left, Biden was left holding the bag - when you mint that much money there is always inflation.

Trump is like Arvind; uses only short-term-thinking, knowing the person who is left holding the bag of sh-t will be blamed as it takes a couple of years before the metrics reflect the deep damage that was done.
