There are rumors circulating big cuts coming due to Splunk acquisition
Can anyone confirm?

Splunk is the new appd. By that I mean the new waste of money for acquisition when customers are already losing interest.
Apps will not get hit very hard except for sales reps. Splunk is very worried about SE and engineer retention as the SE org will become the new observability arm. Splunk only sells about 100m in observability and appd is about 700m yearly. Appd is already a skeleton crew. Gary wants more SEs and less sales reps
AppD was a perfectly executed FOMO play that su-kered cisco. Liz, who is stupid, and Chuck, who was probably drunk by 11am as usual for a weekday, bought the company thinking they were winners.
Winner’s curse kind of winner, but they didn’t know that.
This answer is easy. Splunk is the king of ARR. and is software. AppD lagged behind its competitors and never took off, so splunk will absorb the software code for AppD.
Splunk will have a few new features and AppD is history.
Confirmed. Cuts across the board.
When is appd getting fully sunset?
WOW! Is AppD still a thing???
It's NOWHERE in the market and hasn't been for years.
Rumor I've heard in the corridors is that the plan is to "merge the offerings", then sunset AppD and let go entire AppD.
Splunk has an APM product built by former ApoD folks, why wouldn’t they cut AppD to the bone? Its how it works.
there's not even close to 4k employees at AppDynamics. It will be a lot of people impacted, but some engineering teams will need to be retained for the time being
simple math, splunk acquisition 7000 and 50% are redundant or useless
3500 from splunk + 200 from CX re-org + ??? from AppDiednamics
expect 4K to 5K in upcoming LR
Gone with the wind
Yes, there will be big cuts obviously. What remains to be known is how big exactly and which teams.
