Thread regarding Cisco Systems Inc. layoffs

Anybody know the actual layoff date

Does anyone know the date they'll tell people they get the boot? I wonder if it will be next week or it will be like the one they dragged out for over a month. Band aid or long drawn out pain.

Many in product engineering were notified months ago their roles are at risk. So no end date but it’s been a long looming doom. When we apply to internal roles we show up as “priority” to the Cisco recruiters and I was told they have 48 hours to look at our CV’s. This layoff has been in the works for months. Prioritise your sanity and update your LinkedIn now. There aren’t a lot of open roles to redeploy any of us impacted employees. The kind thing to do is exit them quickly with severance. I’m tired of the painful death.

Not sure about EU or EMEA, but when I was part of the February hunger games (I lost), but in Canada and US specifically, basically a day after the earnings call people were notified. In Canada, folks were given a month (30 days) of working notice so essentially you were the walking dead, collecting a pay cheque but not doing any work. Folks in the states got 60 days notice. Your severance package will be deposited 2 weeks after your final "regular" pay cheque, assuming you don't lawyer up.

If the past is, in any way a predictor for the future in this case, it should be preceded by an earnings call (more precisely a missed earnings).
I expect this time the things to be rushed a little bit as they had a lot of time to prep this.

I could watch my manager for more than 9 months maneuvering to place me on projects where I won't become a dependency, serving just as a backup person mostly. I think it started when they announced the summer mandatory shutdown. This was a clear indicator for this.

So in my case, I know I am on the list, my manager knows I know I am on the list. His problem is that he has some problems himself (he just does not know how big they are)

I hope they will motivate me good enough not to take them to court because I have some serious ammo in my backpack :-) . And I don't even need to open my mouth outside of the company, I just need to send the email upward on the food chain and present some facts. When you are on a high payrate and such problems surface their decision is going to be almost natural and my help will be welcome. I can't even be sued back because all I would do would be to explain some problems that have been tolerated by negligence.

it depends on the country specific laws. In Germany, France, UK for example it takes a bit longer. In February folks in countries with low labour protection got notified one day after earnings call.

Announced after earnings then it will stretch out 6 months based on country labor requirements.
