Thread regarding Intel Corp. layoffs

Enhanced retirement, what age and how paying for medical

Who here is planning to take the enhanced retirement with the plan to retire
What’s your ~age and how are your handling medical (assuming under 65)?

Not many tech positions in FM and if I take it, mostly like won’t work in tech (don’t want to move)

In Ireland to replace the Intel private healthcare costs €65 per Adult. Per month for private car. Ireland does have a public healthcare system free at point of use with small charge or free if your doctor sends you to the hospital. Explains why we have no extra healthcare in the CPM package

In Ireland insurance cost are low , like $200 a month. So it is more living costs that is a worry than healthcare cost.

Healthcare is $hite though. There is so much bureaucracy and even with private health insurance, there is months of waiting to get an appointment.

IRMP is not the same insurance as what you had when working or COBRA.
COBRA is the same as insurance when working, but you should not be on COBRA when transitioning to Medicare.

IRMP is cr-p. It is more expensive than ACA, and not as good.
No one should enroll in the IRMP.
Even intel HR recommends ACA over IRMP.
Use SERMA for ACA, not IRMP.
Do your research.

It’s a legit question. Options are few. If you still have a working spouse once cobra is over get in their insurance. Look into SERMA covering IRMP. Get a job that has medical. Even some part time jobs will cover you. Last option, ACA or Medishare.

You can't be on COBRA when you hit 65 and go on Medicare, unless you are willing to pay the Medicare penalty the rest of your life.
Intel's retiree health plan is not the same as when working. Mayo and others do not accept the Intel Retiree Plan.
Thank God and Obama you have the ACA option, though Republicans want to ki-l ACA as well.

I'm 60. Cobra for 18m, serma for 24m will pay with savings for rest out of pocket for irmp. Will not do ACA. Our medical is much more expensive but worth it.

Sorry dude. They are not answering because it looks a little like you’re fishing for information. They are really done with management and H.R. games. Good luck to you. Folsoms a beautiful place.
