Thread regarding Anthem Inc. layoffs

RIF - position was eliminated

I am a consistent high performer and a team player who is always willing to lend a hand, jump in, and get things done. I was RIF'd yesterday, but honestly, I don't feel horrible. I have never enjoyed working for the leader of our group or my direct manager. The bigger issue is that it starts at the top, and our VP is the most egotistical, condescending, fake, only hires "YES men" and least confident person leader I've ever experienced. He has his own personal team within his team that does every single one of his presentations, writes his LinkedIn posts, writes his bylines, writes all his speeches and/or talking points, etc. only to claim and boast about his own glory. He gaslights the team to feel like they have an open door to him, but according to personal experience and experience of several others who have left on their own before this have said he has told them outright to never come to him directly and that it should filter from their manager to him only because he's too high up. His favorite joke is that he has empathy for our members but is the most tone def, typical LA, all about himself human I've ever met. People have gone to HR about his, but HR business partner just ignores it and then goes and tells him what was said and by who. If this company is made up of leaders like him, it's better off that I find somewhere else to work.

You cannot expect anything from this place. It's unproffesional and the leaders are a joke.

My experience with this company's so called leadership is. They lie like children all of the time. They have no idea what they are doing and blame everyone around them. To me they are little kids wearing dads shoes. I do not know how this place can stay in business. It's truly is like children in a school yard fighting in meetings. Gossiping about each other. I worked in IT. At least the usless IT leaders are gone. What a joke they were.

I am a consistent high performer and rified yesterday after many years of service. This company is under misaligned management without vision/inspiration. This leadership cannot even send an email announcing and being transparent to associates who are rifed…

There are so many toxic managers & leaders here, it’s sickening. HR will do nothing & making an ethics complaint will do nothing. They do not care. They don’t want to make it better here.

@sdr+ it really is like high school but without the steroids!! Just because they have leadership titles does not mean they are leaders. To be "real" leaders they have to be of "good" character and I don't know of any leaders here that do.

The corporate environment is just high school on steroids.

Unfortunately, this company has a lot of leadership just like the one you have experienced. It baffles me how they exist for so long. I guess the ones above them either have blinders on or are just as bad. HR is here only to support and protect the company and management. Employees should never expect any support from HR at EH.

Wait, are we on the same team? Or your VP is related to my bu-----e VP. There is a lot of nepotism (inbreeding) here.
