Thread regarding Cisco Systems Inc. layoffs

Considering Return Offer

Left Cisco on my own many years ago to do more interesting things. Cisco is now working to enter one of the technology areas I've become an expert in and has extended an offer for me to help drive the charge.

The layoff announcement brings back unpleasant memories of constant layoffs during my previous tenure there. Will this be a large, one and done, or is it an ongoing trend like the past.

Unless you only want a career for a few years (and are getting a significant bump for your trouble) I'd stay away. There is no current growth vision or trajectory and we've had every six month layoffs for 3-5 years.

Not a good look for the future.

Well the only way I even would consider this would be if I would get guaranteed money upfront and a large increase in salary. Eff it I would even ask for a sh!tload of RSUs fully vested. This would ALL have to be in writing with time enough to take it to a real attorney to make sure it is legit.

If you are to 'drive the charge' then I would drive it in a Director seat or they could Fu@k off!

Of course Cisco would never do this especially if you truly are an 'expert.'

Never return anywhere. It does rarely works out. Move on.

It’s toxic AF here. I was LRd and have gone back after two years, I’ve found it to be next level toxic. I’m looking for my next move to leave soon.

LRs are bi-annual, stock price is falling, Chuck is no where to be found and employee sentiment is an all time low. Unless they are paying you millions I’d say it’s a hard pass.

If you worked for Cisco before, you should very well know the answer to your question!!! Everyone who has worked for Cisco knows the answer to your question.

It’s an ongoing process of layoffs. It’s just personal experience, but even if you are in a high performing part of the company, they are so many parts of the business that bring up excuses for terrible comp and raises that don’t even keep up with inflation. Stock is trash too.

Don't come back. I came back and now am waiting for a package to leave. It has gone so bad. You won't recognize the place anymore.

Another worthless troll. There's been a hiring freeze in place for months now.

Ongoing trend like past, only more frequently. Without niche markets and revenue growth, trend is downward and lowering expenses using restructuring. Not a healthy place to prosper and contribute.
