Any idea what % of your area are opting in? Seems nearly 50% in mine.
Seems like there will be a lot rejected. 😕

The lack of planning in all of this has been insane. So if some areas have no applicants, will they lose more from different areas and shift people around? My guess is yes.
I doubt this will be the last layoff either.
One group 90% applied. One group 15% exactly. On some shifts nobody in some areas applied. The spread across the Fab is so uneven, not sure how it will all shake out.
D-day is almost upon us. I hear we'll be told Saturday or Sunday if we're staying and Monday if we're accepted.
I know we have to take everything on this site with a huge pinch of salt, but I wouldn't be the least bit surprised if @hawa's comment is true.
Latest is factory is working furiously to block vast majority of VSP and in some cases ER will have to be blocked
So people are saying different numbers now for how many applied. One person told me it was in the 30 percent range on another said even higher. What's the rumours in there now?
"Blocked by the tool automatically". Which tool in senior management are you referring to? There is no automated blocking here ffs.
Latest is all techs will be accepted and back filled with MTs from Israel - few want to take VSP there.
Previous text is clearly nonsense. High grade techs were targeted in AZ.
I was the "max payout" poster. My reply to the Brooks comment I see was deleted as it mentioned an act ending life.
Me and another 7 billion people will be fine not working for Intel, in fact I cannot wait!
Latest is all MT’s are being blocked by the tool automatically , acceptance is only for high grade eng and managers, this will ensure max cost saving. High grade MT also blocked as focus is to finally have all MT working on tools (critical skills) to match competitor benchmarking
@previous poster, what are you going to do then? After Intel, you'll be like Brooks getting out of prison in the Shawshank Redemption.
I applied for VSP as it's a no brainer max payout for me. Pretty relaxed, not really bothered if I get it this round or not as I'm certain I will get it eventually. Confident all that apply with be excepted though, especially those in the highest grades.
I'm not sure but the 2009 ISP was live streamed. We were brought into a room and told yeah or nah. I remember sneaking in the back entrance like a mu---red on the way to court to avoid everyone. I walked out the front entrance dancing like Fred Astaire.
Waiting 3 weeks to find out the results of this VSP/ERP is going to be torture. Is it done by email or face to face?
90% blocked is the final word on it
2 days to go. How are you all fairing? The stuff I'm hearing this week is all over the place and contradictory. 30% have applied, no actually less people have applied than they thought. Techs are being kept, no everyone's on the chopping block. I think the week the acceptance/denied emails come out will hit hard. When people start realising what the place is going to look like in the aftermath
Sounds about right, a lot of AMs & DMs barely show their faces about the place, a lot like senior Engineers and MTLs that, they just show up on site for di-k measuring competitions.
The word is firming up that all MT’s are being kept and blocked it’s a manager and high grade engineers only CPM,
There will be at least 15% cut across all groups, MTs certain to be included
@4koj I think you are forgetting the number of MTs working in EPCOT doing nothing right now. Easy to see a cut to high grade MTs across the site.
All MT’s will be rejected the priority is to keep the fabs running and extract maximum savings from the CPM, to that end managers will be a key target alongside high engineering grades for acceptance of VSP
Nobody knows yet what will happen in Ireland. ELT still to decide what technologies and products to ki-l. That could be everything in F24 for instance.
The lack of rumours on site this time round really makes me believe that management are really winging it. In previous redundancies everyone knew what was going on before any official announcement. So either everyone has learned to keep quiet or nobody really knows what's going to happen.
Yes, some Engineers told me they've been told they will get accepted quicker than MTs as they are not on the tools, so further removed from production.
I've also heard those numbers. I figure about 10% will take the early retirement. That's only based on a hunch though. I doubt many more fab techs will be given the vsp so the rest will probably come from the office.
Ok
Latest numbers I've heard is that 12% to 14% are enhanced retirement eligible.
That doesn't leave much for VSPs
I think we should use this post to put all the rumours and whispers we're hearing for all to see.
I heard Irish management are querying with US if enhanced retirement option which is stated as guaranteed can be changed as they have to many rule of 75 folks eligible to apply and potentially cause serious skills gaps in the FAB
90% of applications will be rejected, head down and back to work
The word is 30%, the 15% early retirement won’t be counted against the official target to lower the number comm’d to the Irish government. Major egg on the faces of senior management who have been spouting for years that the Ireland site is safe. Deep cut in Ireland targeting only high grades to lower the bill per fabless benchmarking. Ireland is too expensive , chickens have come home to roost.
word on the street said 750-1000 could go
Our area said that too many may apply as the packages are to good.
As usual, they didn't even seem to consider that it might be the work environment they've created is so bad.
What if 24 is shut down? Numbers will quickly make sense then
Resources being found from other areas is only applicable if there are other areas with excess employees. Not the case in Ireland we are trending around 30% in all areas of factory employees.
That's an insane amount of people action in your group. Whatever way you want this to pan out, best of luck
As for kicking the can down the road … it will continue. There have been action in 4 quarters of the last 8 in my group.
If there's a chance that they'll be doing more redundancies in the near future, surely it would make sense to have more than the 15% layoffs now instead of kicking the can down the road. The wording is always "around 15%" or "15%ish". Maybe letting go of more than 15% is on the cards?
You might get rejected this time, but next time you'll get it. This show is only starting. Intel have postponed their 'innovation' event for September.
On a side note, intel should give back the millions it has taken from Irish taxpayers. Pure grifting and ponzi scheme.
I really hope you're right about them accepting all applications. I'd love to get out with a cheque in my back pocket.
Feedback is all applications will
Be accepted and resources found from another area
