Thread regarding Wells Fargo & Co. layoffs

cant sleep

been at Wells Tech for 7 years, and I’ve never encountered a layoff situation like this before. I rely on this job to provide for my kids. What are my options?

Reach out for some help. The EAC may be able to connect you to a counselor in your area to at least start a conversation. Maybe your GP can refer your to a local psychologist that is covered by insurance.

No shame in talking it through with an independent 3rd party professional. They can’t wave a magic wand and make the situation go away, but they can help build up your toolset regarding coping with stress. Do it for your kids.

“ What are my options?”

Most of us are in same boat. You have no control so stop literally worrying yourself sick. Do your best job, keep your skills up and let the dice fall where they might. If you have skills and a good network you will be fine

@1ruk+1tX05JBN ok. your opinion. Take the prompt and run it thru chatgpt, meta.ai, Gemini or whatever. Combine the results. Each is just a "paste as text" away.
Also, use AI to build or generate your resume and cover letters. start building an inventory of skills and experiences and a list of accomplishments. The main thing is to prepare for the current and future job environment. I rode WF from my late 50's to late 60's before being laid off.

Worst option: keep on keeping on and worry yourself sick.
Best option: get your resume updated. Take advantage of training available through WF that will enhance your resume. Browse job postings as if you need a job NOW and you will get an idea of opportunities. My last two cents: get mental support via Employee Assistance Consulting or outside of WF. Keep the faith 😊

It may be 80% right now, but that doesn't mean much. They'll simply move on to the next fake excuse once they are done with people that 'live in the wrong place'. If you're a domestic employee, it's a matter of time.

You should already know if you are chosen. Location strategy is like 80%+ of the layoffs. What you don’t know is when. Plan on it being soon and then take actions before. If it’s not soon you will have time to continue to look for and plan for next round. Work isn’t going away. Just WF

Here is a gemini prompt to get started. "I am a .net coder and developer of websites for a major bank. I have learned complex banking procedures. I have coded, tested, and deployed website code.
I have used github, jfrog, to deploy code. Also have used to test code before deployment. I think I am going to be laid off soon from this employer. What should I learn about AI? What do I need to learn and do to continue my career?"

@1aeu+1tX05JBN is correct. And learn AI. Start with this: open gemini.google.com
prompt "As a what do I need to learn of AI in order to be successful in my next job?"
could be As a "coder of web sites" or "designer of databases", or " developer of BCP programs"
Good luck...

Upskill. Network. Apply for jobs outside of Tech. Look into certifications. Good luck.

Network with old buddies and try to get out. It is probably a matter of time before most people are laid off in the us, so try to get ahead of the curve
