Unemployment eligibility if you take PIL (Pay in Lieu) instead of PIP

Does anyone know if you qualify for Unemployment benefits in Texas if you elect for PIL (Pay in Lieu) rather than the PIP? Technically you “voluntarily resign” after the PIL period is over, but I wonder if anyone has still been able to qualify for unemployment.

In my situation, I successfully completed a PIP last year, but unfortunately I was PIP’ed again so I’m going to elect for PIL. Any thoughts?

You can't get PIPed twice in a row. Second PIP is automatic PIL.

And, the second poster is correct - ExxonMobil will not contest unemployment. If you read the document they have you sign, you would know that - it's spelled out there.

I took the PIL and received unemployment. XOM will not challenge it.

Call the Texas Workforce Commision. It might be they look at it as severance and a layoff and you will get unepmloyment. It looks like one can get up to 549.00 a week. Also, check with Exxon to see if they will fight it if you apply. In some cases the former employer controls things a well.
