“We Put People First”…

If you look at the “Who We Are” section of the website, under “Our Culture” the very first thing listed is “Community: we put people first”…I would like to know who, other than c-suite execs and stockholders, is being put first.
It’s not our members. The more they offshore, the less work is done correctly. It’s not reducing turnaround time either- even if it’s “done” faster initially, that time is eaten back up when onshore ops has to redo the work to get it done right. That’s not a member-centric mindset and it erodes member confidence over time. The steady loss of business over the last few years is proof positive of that.
It’s certainly not associates that are being put first either. Chopping your workforce by thousands of people at a time, paying no attention to performance but instead using salary as a guide (the more you make, the better chance you’ll be cut), and not even having the b*lls to be honest about it?? Pretty sure none of us feel we’ve been put first either.
So if by “people” you mean executive leaders and board members then yes, you’re certainly putting them first. But your members? Nope. The people who built the company, who did the work, who cared so much that we feel a real and tangible sense of betrayal? You continue to put us last in the same way you’ve done for the last decade.
I would say something about our CEO feeling some sort of shame, but to feel shame you have to have a conscience so we don’t have to worry about that.

Well said. I'm glad I read this post. I don't want to be a part of this. It doesn't align with my values or sense of right and wrong. It's really the worst place I've ever been.

The senior leadership team is all talk (and I know it isn't just this public company).

Their number 1 asset is the shareholders, then the members, then the associates. It should be the other way around. The associates should be the number 1 asset of the company, but they are just treated like statistics. If associates are happy and motivated, then the members will have a much better experience. None of that really exists. I feel sorry for the hard-working associates as well as the 49M members who pay premiums, only to see so much waste and chaos.

I agree 100%. They use all the right language, it looks excellent on paper. The corporate greed is unbelievable!! Profits before people is the correct term.
And before anyone starts with its a business, I do agree but no worker should have to live in fear and check calendars daily anticipating a pop up touch base meeting with your boss.
And if you work in Tennessee be very afraid, the Plan President and her lackey are on a roll
