Thread regarding Intel Corp. layoffs

Fellows

How many Fellows and Sr Fellows are actually contributing at that level? At least half of them are merely collecting a paycheck and not even working on Mission critical top jobs for the company. Half the fellows should be retired immediately.
RIP = retired in place

How about some G10 Principal Engineers ? It looks like tenure is the only reason for their promotion

Intel always had overrated PEs, Senior PEs, Fellows, Senior Fellows. VPs are another category. They are the ivory towers and full of bravado.

Same thing goes for those so called “AI Architects” that don’t know a thing about AI nor are architects… the whole AI gravy train that never took off at Intel like many other “cool” things at the time…

This one has a trivial solution. Fix the number of SrPE’s and fellows. In order to mint a new SrPE or fellow, and existing one must be demoted, retire, or quit. This will incur a “requalify” process so of course, those who are bleeding Intel dry will never approve.

Fellows need to be looked at seriously and assess where and how their genius has /is resulting in product or technology leadership- if they aren’t pinned directly to something viewed as critical , or successful - they need to go ….. we can’t carry people who invented something 20 years ago but are doing nothing now - Intel does reward and pay for legacy , which is just stupid
