Is intel labs going to take a bigger hit this time around? Scientists working on LLMs far behind the industry curve that isnt even core for intel. whats the point?

It won't really matter if all the data gets turned into lies.
You aren't really needed and haven't been needed for years.
Intel Labs is the ivory tower. Pat originated from there. Useless projects that don't see any light were rampant. You can see the Power Point Presentations and that was a fashion show. What an arrogant bunch of people!
Earnings report included "non-GAAP" R&D as a major focus area for cuts so... probably?
Intel would never benefit anything from the labs. The management have no idea. They have passed on numerous good opportunities. I was told they are focused on "manufacturing". LOL.
If are in the labs working on something that won't end up in a revenue generating product in the next 18 months, it might be a good idea to dust off your resume and bring some cardboard boxes into your cubicle soon.
