Thread regarding U.S. Bank layoffs

Head Hunted

I’ve received about 3 messages from a recruiter for US Bank. Keep it brutally honest, I left Wells Fargo when I heard rumors of chainsaw Charlie laying off, and a year later my branch was closed down and not everyone was able to transfer to the closest branch. Should I stay where I’m at? It seems like all of the banks aren’t doing so hot any way. I don’t think it would even be worth it at this time to go back into banking, given how every bank is laying off at the moment. The only reason I’m considering it is because I need the benefits. Suggestions? Opinions? Advice?

Honestly benefits are awful at us bank. Insurance is cr-p. Not worth it. There are other better options out there with better benefits imo.

OP, which state are you located in? Certain markets have great leadership within retail. Other markets are garbage.

Your first instincts are correct..the atmosphere at both banks is very negative. Some will tell you that U.S. Bank has a better company culture...I think it really comes down to the group. U.S. Bank is several years behind Wells Fargo technologically speaking (apart from micromanagement software and tools, which are state-of-the-art) which makes the job difficult. Pay is very low compared to WF. The bureaucracy is senseless.
I get feeling that performance reviews, merit increases will be very sc--wed up this year.
Between all the things mentioned, and expectation of further layoffs, I would steer clear of U.S. Bank.
