Our honorable leader in EFT keeps on laying off people in a technology hub location while remote and non hub folks seem put for now. What's up with that?

I'm not critical at all, ten times over replaced by India and still remote, hanging around for some reason. Doesn't seem like a solid strategy, maybe my manager is the reason.
Most likely, a so called “efficiency” (i.e., cost reduction) layoff - based on the role’s relative criticality within LOB. These are top-down driven and unrelated to location strategy. A backfill req is likely to be posted in India, if not already.
