Thread regarding Nielsen layoffs

Never received any severance??

I was informed I'd be let go back in March and was told I'd receive a severance agreement after my last day. It's been well over a month since my last day and I still haven't received the agreement (and thus no severance), despite contacting multiple people in HR repeatedly. I haven't been given an explanation and am constantly being referred to people who don't respond. Has anyone else experienced this issue? I never got to sign anything (despite being promised severance), so is there any legal action I can take?

Do you think the typo was intentional? What if many typos emails sent out and many employees not receiving it? Few don't inquire and push back about it, and miss out? Would typos save Nielsen money?

Nielsen had a typo in my personal email and I never got paperwork I needed. So it's possible they made a mistake there, too.

They need to respond to you, though.

These HR people are extremely inept. They invite the wrong people to lay off meetings. Misspellings. Documentation not sent. Ghosting. I was also told the wrong information about something crucial with Cobra.

You'd think after they've laid off thousands that they'd have this process down to a science. I mean, that's their entire job at this point, laying us off. I don't even think they're doing any real hiring onboarding in the GCCs.

The company has a severance policy. They should have sent it to you right after the notification in March. Take that document to a lawyer. I suspect things will quickly get resolved at that point.

If you employer promised you severance, but refuse to keep their promise, you can file a complaint with the Department of Labor (DOL) and your
State Labor Commissioner’s Office.
