Thread regarding Verizon Communications Inc. layoffs

Just what a troubled company needs…

A NEW LOGO! Let’s spend millions on new signage and communications. You knew it was coming—a new “Creative” person at the top, and a way of getting into the media with a ‘no news’ article. Does a flaming “V” really help to turn the financially troubled company around? I don’t think so. Verizon has done nothing to replace its loss of market share, and it’s pretty obvious from this logo prank that senior management doesn’t have a clue. Even more absurd is Sampath comparing V’s streaming ‘plan’ to a bazaar in India. This ain’t India—yet!

It would seem laying off people and potentially destroying thier financial security as well as de-railing family plans for college, low raises in a historic inflationary period seems like the real meaningful priorities are "we need a new logo". Seriously...? This has to be the most "tone-deaf" and irresponsible use of time and money I have ever seen.

My $3,500 LG fridge died after 2 years, and 2 compressor replacements during the warranty period. Lucky you!

On the bright side, at least they don't have to remove the big brass engraved Bell Atlantic signs this time around. They're long gone, and the Verizon signs that followed always looked cheap. But it does beg the question... "This is the best thing someone thought VZ should be wasting money on...?"

The ONLY rebranding that ever worked... was when Lucky Goldstar rebranded themselves "LG". Today very few people realize the pos LG fridge that just died after 5yrs, was made by the very same company that gave those cheap $59 VCR's & TV's in the 80's, when all the rest (that worked) were still over $300.

Verizon's attempts never amount to much.
If they really want the company to snap back... just fire Hans.
Problem solved.

Surprised no one has commented on the song lyrics of the clip played before Sam's video. If you haven't heard it, please go listen to it. It is our new culture!

This cheapens the brand. Color pallette is offensive to the eyes. And the amount of money spent on this is a total slap in the face to the employees who have been laid off this year and the others who are going through VSP. At least wait until the dust settles. Sheeesh!

Hope some people start tagging the stand alone V as NSFW. Someone had to point it out to me but once they shared the light in the middle of the legs er I mean sun eminating from the bottom on the V it makes it more ridiculous than I first though.

@wiz+1tdLRICY This really makes me wonder who is getting a payout from this. We already had a rebrand which never really finished. There are still places that use our logo before the last rebrand. Following the money usually helps.

Whomever is responsible for this abomination in the CMO org should be fired immediately. Not only was this visual “re-brand” completely unnecessary but it was also a blatant mis-use of money, agency resources, and people’s time. Sheeessh, tell me that a new CMO came in and wanted to create their own brand without telling me it was a new CMO wanting to do that.

This is why people got a 2.9% raise with a leading performance metric. Outstanding. We’re going to start selling frostys, machines should be in Q4 for most stores.

Wow to think they were going to announce they were going back to investing in the network. Stop reinventing and doing what others are doing and focus on what you used to be known for…. The network that works

Millions .... don't be silly. It'll be BILLIONS of dollars. It didn't even occur to me the electronic signage at all the stadiums in the world. On the heels of the "how many people can we get to leave the business" ... sure. Why not. I'm pretty sure Hans has no idea what people REALLY say about Verizon at the dinner table.
