Thread regarding Wells Fargo & Co. layoffs

After severance

Where is everyone finding remote jobs in technology? The job market is tough. I live in the middle of nowhere. I was let go after 15 years at WF. I was a lead BSC in technology, hired as remote and let go because of it.

As BS as it is, it’s not like later firing someone for one of the very reasons they were hired hasn’t been a corporate practice for ages. I mean that’s essentially what happens every time a factory packs up and leaves for elsewhere; everyone was hired because they lived in a convenient location when the bosses thought they wanted the plant there, new bosses come in and suddenly that location is a detriment instead of an asset.

Totally agree, thank you for the advice - I find the jobs on Indeed and then go to the company's website to apply!

@otg+1tfiwEmQ be VERY careful if you apply via Indeed...check the company's website to see if the position is actually available and apply via company website.
I would highly discourage applying for a position via Indeed (or other platforms) as your resume will be harvested on their site and your inbox will be bombarded with recruiters that likely not do not have a position available.

There are lots of remote jobs posted on sites like Indeed; however, i haven't heard anything back from a single application I've submitted. Many of these 'remote' jobs are actually hybrid if you find the job posting on the employer's site, which is really messed up.

Part of me is like, are these jobs even real?? Is someone actually getting hired into them?? "Ghost jobs" are a real problem right now.

www.usajobs.gov Look for job series 0343

It aligns well with BSC in technology. You can sort by "remote"

Many companies are still hybrid, but not many are remote. Agree with the other posts there are hundreds or thousands of applicants for every remote job now. Beat advice to anyone looking is to leverage your network. If you can get someone to refer you there is a better chance of getting you resume looked at.

Also look outside or financial services for more flexibility. You may take a pay hit but there’s less bs and more flexibility.

I'm in tech, but in a major US city. I interviewed with numerous companies and one of the first questions was if I was willing to work 5 days a week in the office, which I'm doing now. For a lot of hiring companies, the days of hybrid are over.

Technology is over saturated. Get into healthcare. Plenty of jobs. Plenty of $$

The one-year Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI) Program at Mayo Clinic in Rochester, Minnesota, provides both the knowledge and necessary hands-on experience to pursue a career in magnetic resonance imaging (MRI). Along with lecture courses, the program provides applied learning through lab and clinical experiences at one of the best healthcare facilities in the world.

Remote jobs are scarce, and every job literally has hundreds of applicants if you're lucky to find one. Good luck! I had to settle for a lower paying gig that's local.

There are remote jobs, but thanks to a ton of collusion among bankster elites you won't find much in this industry. Try healthcare.

@kmu+1tfiwEmQ, even if there are a ton of remote job postings, if it is impossible to get any of those jobs, it is the same thing as no available remote jobs.

Crowdstrike, cloudflare, smaller companies that are remote first.

Lots of remote job postings if you know where to look. Impossible to get interviews, IME.

No one is getting remote jobs right now. It’s a tough job market so employers get to call the shots right now. They hate remote work- they just do.
