Thread regarding Lumen Technologies layoffs

We need more customers to generate more revenue, not this Go Down before we Go Up BS

FACT: The company is receiving revenue. Not a quarter goes by that we received 0 dollars. The company is NOT exceeding expectations and the dollar received is less than previous quarter. Therefore, we are not generating revenue only declining. What do we have to offer to the public? We passed on cell service, we passed on PRISM, we passed on VDSL. We sold 16 states away. We stopped dividends. If you don't realize by now, the Board of Directors (who rank higher than the CEO) are having a yard sale to gut out as much of the company to fill their pockets. No one in their right mind would say Sell 16 states, Sell the Latin market, Sell the overseas fiber, bring the 5th largest telecommunications company down to a Kiosk stand inside of a dying mall. Our stock will continue to fall until this company tells the public, our consumers what the heck we offer, at a stellar price, and any other bells and whistles we decide to cosponsor. Like Lumen and PetSmart, Lumen and Nabisco, Lumen and Papa Johns, Lumen and Netflix. However odd it is, we need the public to see how relatable we are to their day to day life. We need more customers to generate more revenue. Not this Go Down before we Go Up BS. Unless, the Board is only after selling for profits.

Completely agree, @hhb+1tdDDcBV.

lol. Good luck. 90% of the buried plant is joint trench. Go ahead and dig up the electric, gas, sewer, water and cable tv just to get to the copper plant. Will never happen.

Lumen will start putting up thousands of Free signs on all of the copper cables and pedestals.

Copper does not "rot in place". Plastic sheathing does not "rot in place". None of the old plant is biodegradable. Where I live; there are alleys upon alleys full of Work Out Terminals and underground copper. If there are no active customers in my neighborhood, then what? MaBell/USWest stuff will stay there another 40 years? Eventually, someone of authority from my city is going to discover this is unused plant and demand removal. May not be today or tomorrow, but one day this company will have to fork out some money and remove miles of underground copper.

It shouldn’t matter what platform you’re paying customers are on because money is money

Pull the old copper plant ??? It’s being abandoned in the ground., it will rot in place. As far as the aerial we’re lashing the fiber to it so we don’t have to put up a new strand.

With the right lipstick, it could happen.

Lumen doesn't want RESIDENTIAL (Mass Markets), period. It wants Enterprise/SMB/Wholesale/Government. And it wants to sell them more than just a pipe - SD-WAN/SASE/Edge. Question is if they want to buy it.

I cannot recall how many times someone has wrote in this site that Lumen doesn't want Copper and I don't need a refresher on the industrial revolution. But Copper is still out there. We are abandoning dead cable lines, pedestals and other copper equipment, and I know for sure the Cities are not happy. My take is that Lumen is 70% Copper and 30% fiber in the combined 16 states. This company is in a world of hurt if we do not place fiber faster, then attract customers to generate revenue since we are using Copper customers to keep the company afloat. Even after all the fiber is placed (year 2040), who is going to pull the old copper plant? I would assume someone is going to say Another Company will buy out the Copper part of Lumen. Ok, but imagine if the Copper is sold next year. What money generating revenue is Lumen going to have to keep placing fiber? I think Lumen has to find that moment where fiber customers are at a level to sustain operations. Before cutting copper. Too bad we don't offer anything else.

Lumen doesn't want more copper customers.
To offset the down trend, Lumen will proceed with more RiFS.
