Just a step closed to autonomous driving? Why would anyone drive our products?

Ford Motor Company is recalling select 2022-2023 Ford Mustang models over an issue with the steering wheel.

The defect: in affected vehicles, the secondary steering torque sensor may not be calibrated properly, which can cause the steering wheel to turn side to side against the driver’s intentions.

The hazards: a steering wheel that turns unintentionally can cause a loss of vehicle control and increase the risk of a crash.

Ford is not aware of any accidents or injuries related to this issue.

Components: power steering control module (PSCM)

Affected vehicles: select 2022-2023 Ford Mustang models produced at the Flat Rock Assembly plant between September 15th, 2022 and April 5th, 2023.

Number of vehicles affected: 30,735

The fix: dealers will update the power steering control module software, free of charge.

Recalls are big insurance money deposits for any manufacturers at times of low sales. $$$ One bolt with the wrong tensile strength noticed on first blueprints can be used later as a recall if needed. Wrong way to do business.
