Do you have to stay employed through March to receive it or will you still get your bonus as long as you stay employed through the end of the year?

Yes. I left dec 2023 and got a bonus dropped into my account march 2024. You can leave asap.
Don’t be a fool. Stay through the end of the year. Book a nice 2 week vacation in mid January then another in feb. Sc--w off until your bonus is paid then do absolutely nothing and have then work you out while you get paid. I have a friend that always says f&ck them before they can f&ck you.
I have known people who quit in early January for exactly this reason - you get it if you leave in the new year. (Not sure if this means you have to work through 12/31 or if you have to make it through to 1/2.)
Not guaranteed. If your boss says you were a low performer you get nothing.

It’s only a matter of time before those capricious Machiavellians do away with bonuses & reduce severance to 2 weeks.

You should receive a portion of the bonus. However, the boss can adjust your portion of the bonus and allocate it to others, even if you stay until early March. It happened to a friend of mine.

Not totally true. If you quit before 12/31 you will NOT get the bonus in March. If you quit between January 1st and the bonus payout date in March, you will get the full bonus of the previous year.
Be careful what you wish for

Bonuses will be going away down the road. This is one of the future cost reduction strategies being planned.

If quit voluntarily, you forfeit your March award (bonus).
If surplus (layoff), that is involuntary, and policy states you will be paid out a prorated portion. If you work 11 of 12 months, you get that fraction of March Award payout in March of course.
