Thread regarding Nike Inc. layoffs

Judging by the amount of negative and bullying comments on this site

The amount of people who berate others, insult, leave negative and sarcastic comments, complain about DEI and other stuff... Just confirms why Nike is a big high school full of bullies who are unhappy with their existence.... DISGUSTING

It appears that Microsoft, Zoom, Google, and Meta are starting to disband their DEI programs, recognizing that “DEI is no longer business-critical” citing “changing business needs.” https://www.businessinsider.com/microsoft-layoffs-dei-leader-email-2024-7

No one is saying that hiring a Black man, a g-y Asian woman, or an Indian pansexual is bad. People aren’t complaining about diversity itself; they are specifically concerned about how diversity is being abused at Nike for personal gain. The issue arises when unqualified individuals are hired or promoted solely to meet diversity quotas and achieve aggressive DEI KPIs, especially when these targets are tied to VP compensation.

Remember kids whenever you present a point and instead of addressing what you said they refuse to respond with anything but “PLAYING VICTIM” immediately disengage and move on . There is no genuine discussion to be had here. Their cognitive dissonance will not allow them to access the range to compute a different and often more nuanced view of thinking and since they’re so simple minded and can’t understand or take their view being challenged or proven wrong , they instead interpret it as disrespect and seek to shift blame, gaslight and become the victim themselves . Stay hydrated and pay them dust

@1qrd+1tt3oOjD Can you share a link to a thread where a s-xist, racist, or demeaning comment has been made? I haven't come across any.

I think it's fine to make these claims if they're true, but you should provide evidence to back them up.

Criticizing how it's implemented at Nike is one thing, but many of the DEI comments that I have seen haven't been about the specifics of the program, they've just been flat out racist or s-xist or demeaning.

If a white man does something stupid (e.g. JonDon), it's because he's stupid or greedy or incompetent. If someone who is female or isn't white does something stupid, it's because he/she is a diversity hire, not because the likelihood of being stupid or greedy or incompetent as JD has been generously distributed across genders and races.

To pass off questions & criticisms of how Nike is conducting DEI as bullying is playing the victim and prevents any actual conversation on the topic. It's possible to push DEI agendas & KPIs too far leading to discrimination against “majority” groups. Apparently even suggesting this gets you labeled as a Na-i, which shuts down any constructive conversation on the subject… I think that’s why you only see these kinds of comments surface on anonymous sites.

I believe everyone supports the idea of equality of opportunity, but people often disagree on how to implement it.

Nike's DEI initiatives have been contentious because they essentially implement quotas to meet the KPIs set by the ELT for 2025. As a result, many people are being overlooked for roles because they don't represent the right race, which ironically is discriminatory.

No one likes discrimination.
