Thread regarding Chevron Corp. layoffs

Anything positive other than having a job?

Has anyone remotely had anything improve recently? All I ever hear is management making decisions to anger the employees and drive morale lower. Not a great way of raising productivity. If the rumor about hybrid is true then it will be another massive blow. Like was said by someone else no more late or early meetings for me. I guess management wants all the high performers to quit and move on. Give us something positive and something the employees want as people are tired of it all.

I actually love the work I do. I just don't don't want to be laid off and I would prefer the company be doing things to actually right the ship and succeed. Much of that is out of my control. And I also considered the hybrid a huge benefit to working here. The people talking about how they f*ck off at home and don't actually work are the real trolls. At the end of the day I get my work done and get high performance ratings. So what does it matter if I work from home Monday and Fridays? I think making me come in to the office everyday sounds like removing a benefit. The people who act like we are crazy for not wanting to lose this benefit are weird to me. It won't ki-l me to have to come in more to the office, but it's removing a benefit that I just don't see how that is going to make us complete projects under budget, find more oil, outperform our competitors. I guess we will see

A job is not designed to make you happy, instead you need to find the right job for you, if Chevron does not make you happy at what you do and your skill sets or the culture is not right for you, you need to move on, expectations are high with most of you on everything (not just job, but also relationships, friendships, etc). Look in the mirror and ask yourself who really am I to feel so entitled, what are my accomplishments that separates me apart? Those who put their life on duty and serving the county, hardly have similar expectations, why should you?

Isn't that positive enough? Good pay and benefits? This is not the first generation that has had to work for a living and deal with adverse conditions outside of their control to hold a job and keep the paychecks flowing. If fact many have had it much much worse and many are on the street today or on government benefits scraping the bottom of the barrel. Think of it like that. It may not be great but, by comparison, it ain't too bad either.

Chevron is a good company to work for. Sure they have some “programs” that are unnecessary but just do your job and keep those promotions coming and help your fellow coworkers because all I ever heard was it’s about the people because we are still the companies number one resource until AI replaces some that is! Also always keep the ways to improve coming! We are all in this together. Thank you all for helping make the company successful.

To be fair, that's kind of a big positive. I still consider myself lucky to work for a company like Chevron but no question it has become a shadow of the company it used to be. I also consider myself lucky to be on the tail end of my career because I don't see a sustainable long term career with Chevron for most people. The work will be less interesting and the company vision is cloudy at best. On top of that, there is so much hatred of Western energy companies. I would recommend a new graduate to look for a different company in a different industry.
