Does anyone from MA know if unused personal days are paid out? Or anyone from the 2018 VSP out there from MA that remembers if they did?

Yes the law changed a few years back.
You can also go back in your time sheet and re code vacation days to personal days
I am pretty sure MA is one of the states that requires pay out of personal days (CA is another I think). Either reach out to global payroll or Ask HR to confirm.
Personal days are 'use them or lose them'. Always, always, always use personal days first.
Always use personal days first unless you would lose the accrual on vacation days. You have two months to go use them go go!
