Thread regarding Intel Corp. layoffs

Its not that bad…

intel spends 16 bilion a year in r&d nvidia spends little over 8 bilion a year in r&d amd spends a little over 1 bilion a year in r&d… yep…

https://www.macrotrends.net/stocks/charts/INTC/intel/research-development-expenses#

intel also spends capx on foundry build out and is still highly profitable…

intel has a 4b float, and if they cut their r&d to match nvidia , would post an extra two dolars eps to the bottom line per year, bringing their pe ratio to around 10.
if they r&d to match amd, they would put about an extra 4 dolars eps per year on the bottom line…

intel is majorly misunderstood…

actualy, it is very profitable with very strong cash flow…

intc worth far more than AMD…

when the foundry(s) build out is complete , capx will slow down, and eps will increase considerably….. wait and see…

p.s who all knows apollo just invested 11 bilion with intel to get a 49% interest in their ireland fab facility?

i'll wager you here and now we will hear of news whereby nvidia in some form or another develops a relationship with intel… (nvidia can not rely on taiwan for much longer without some consequences)

that could come in the form of a minority ownership in one fab facility such as apollo just completed or simply onshoring chip manufacturing with intel…

either way, it's destined to happen it's news like this that says you want to be in this horse race with intel…

OP is spinning so hard they’re going to tunnel into the Earth’s core. I can’t help but wonder if they truly believe all that themselves, or if we’re just watching someone on the cusp of failure grappling with their emotions

Well said.
AMD+TSMC will be difficult to beat and is a contributing factor to the revenue decline from 2021.

Intel has no answer to Epyc.
Intel is also facing a growing AMD presence in client.

Advanced Micro Devices (AMD) reported $1.4 billion in client segment revenue for the first quarter of 2024, which is an 85% increase year-over-year.

Something is incredibly wrong when Intel is losing head to head with a competitor that literally spends 16x less on R&D and offers a more competitive product.

I actually read these number quite differently. Intel spends 16 times as much as AMD yet the Intel products are not as good and Intel doesn’t have a GPU product worth discussing. Intel spends twice as much as Nvidia and there is no comparison in products, Nvidia wins in every possible way. Intel spends mind boggling amounts on foundry but has no major customers and is struggling to catch up with TSMC in process technology. There is no comparison wrt to operating efficiency with TSMC. Intel has their best products built by TSMC. If Intel is so amazingly profitable why doesn’t it show up in earnings reports? Why are revenues down by 35% since 2021s peak? Why are margins dropping? Why have bonuses been so low? When capex completes you will just have a lot of excess capacity on old process technology. Tell us whether 18A is on track, that’s not what we are hearing. When will the client cpu issues be resolved? The data is showing that it is not the power settings or system board issues like Intel claims. Intel is a has been company and won’t be coming back to any former glory. Think third tier supplier level.
