Exceptions

Did i hear right that majority of people who got exceptions last year were denied this year? What were the reasons given? Reason given last year is no longer valid?

The policy did change. I had it last year and HR emailed me saying the policy I had been given an exception for was eliminated as a reason.

The policy doesn't seem to be consistently applied. I've seen several friends, similar jobs, same performance, same levels, different business and have gotten different responses.

It feels random. Not saying it is, but it feels that way.

No reason is given except a generic corporate non-answer. Reason doesn't benefit the firm.

No exceptions to start with and then after 6 months, they will quietly start up the program again.
This is to reduce headcount initially and also show a false appearance that everyone is treated equally.

I know of a 100% remote person being allowed the exception because he is a SPOF. It should be everyone or no one. Lawsuits will occur and the press won't be worth the money they save. how much money does one person need? SICK!

Most exceptions were not renewed, but the way they have gone about communicating options to these is cold and heartless. A generic email with a link to a qualtrics survey where we have to choose from the option to stay and embrace dynamic working or “voluntary” quit. No additional information is provided. Our questions are routed to a group email box and the replies are the same two paragraphs from the initial email. No severance.

Zero doll*r support for relocation and severance package. This is not to retain people, but to shake the tree.

I was fired for my exception after being made to feel like a complete worthless POS by my manager for the details surrounding my exception. old people just don't get mental health issues period. also, I was a top performer and never had any write ups previously. I would love to see a class action suit take place.

@gar+1tzqZaDC, what is a cvnt? Nevermind, I know. As a woman, I find that highly offensive, and very surprised the moderators have allowed this comment to stay up this long.

For the person that made the derogatory comment about Abby. What would you call it if a man was making this request?
Time to grow up people. If you are that unhappy you have the power to go somewhere else.
No one is forcing you to stay.
The whining on this site is ridiculous!

Let go come 12/31, not September. Being asked back for 2x dynamic weeks in Sept, but have until 12/31 to leave.

What I’ve heard is that the majority of people with a remote exception will either be forced to relocate or let go come September. I don’t believe any jobs will actually stay remote unless it is majority travel based.

The reason is that Abby is a cvnt

Yes, those with remote status had to “reapply” for remote status, and most did not have their applications granted, if even put in for consideration. They now have to say whether they’ll leave by 12/31 (and not have to come in) or start coming in for connect weeks. I hear that even if your remote status is approved, it’s subject for re-consideration every six months.

The reason is simply that they want people back in office, and also, they overhired during the pandemic and this is like quiet layoffs.

I haven’t heard anything about medical exceptions, just remote working like permanently living too far from an office and never coming in because of it. It is not everyone so far, some people are still safe. But yes, it’s true. I’m not sure on the details or how it was worded other than they are being asked to come back for dynamic weeks in September, otherwise leave the firm by/on December 31.
There was some buzz on this site further down. But the other day one of my past colleagues reached out and told me she would be leaving the firm 12/31 because of it.
