Anyone have experience being investigated or disciplined for sending a business related text from a personal device?

People have even been investigated for saying “if you have any questions on my accounts while I’m on pto, just text me”
If they are so concerned about it why don't they issue a corporate phone to everyone? It seems its super hard to request one
No. But also how the he!! would they know you're doing business via personal texts? 2nd-- you should have any confidential info in your texts anyway. the only bus. related texts should be things like "joining the call?" etc.
Everyone needs to do this, constantly.
Vast majority of people caught up in this receive coaching from ER, but it does go in your file and if you have other issues, then yes, it can lead to you being shown the door.
No
Cause I don’t text anything except “read your email” or “ why aren’t you on the call”
@2bir those caught are fired for cause.
Likely many getting caught up in this net inadvertently. Are they firing everyone or discipline in some other way?
Just write the word “text” in a Teams IM and you’ll get investigated. They will ask for an explanation and then ask you for a screenshot of the texts in question. Most often happens when there is an urgent matter and the person cannot be reached so a text is sent to say “Urgent call me”.
If you want to play with the monitoring folks just keep writing text in Teams IM for various reasons, like you are talking about a font but you say text instead over and over again. “I like Arial Narrow text compared to Arial Bold text but sometimes I like a fancier text but it’s not a professional text whereas Arial text is better”🤣.
There are financial advisors barred from the industry for doing this. I suggest you get the Hearsay app if you need to do it
The last thing I want is my boss or peers texting me on my personal phone. It's my phone, not their personal line of communication to me while I'm out golfing. They can msg my mouse jiggler if they need to try and contact me.
@rcm+1u20ubk6 internal communications are monitored for a lot of people in certain businesses for any indication of taking a conversation to a non monitored communication channel. In other words, if you say “I’ll text you” or “call my personal” or anything that sounds like that, they come back to you and your manager for more details, including copies of any texts. Supposedly this type of monitoring is going to be expanded in the future to help identify other kinds of concerns and data leaks.
What personal phone?
The SEC fine 26 smaller firms $390 million for this violation this week.
WFA paid a $200 million fine for employees doing/discussing business on unapproved devices. We now have to attest quarterly that you are not discussing any business on personal devices, if you don’t attest you’re fired. You can’t discuss anything work related on a personal non secure device. & yes they can find out obviously
Does an ongoing bitchfest about management count as "business-related texts"?
If you did do this prepare to have your personal phone subject to a legal hold.
OP— I hope you’re joking ……because if you really got nailed for doing this…it’s your own fault 🙄
Ugh, are you seriously still doing this? Getting a bunch of fines isn’t raising anyone’s salary
We take annual training that literally tells you not to do this.
And you sign an attestation saying you understand, hence no wiggle room for you. Enjoy your time off.
How is it even detected other than by happenstance or human reporting? Just curious, as there’s no reason to.
We were fined for this a year ago, so you will be investigated by Ent. Inv.
