Thread regarding Cisco Systems Inc. layoffs

Well that extra week off in July

sure seems a lot more devious now.

Agree!

When they get rid of PTO, they are going to payout your PTO balance. The forced PTO for the July “shutdown” means CSCO will be paying employees a lot less (for PTO balance).

The fact they won’t be continuing the July shutdown makes it more than obvious this was just CSCO robbing employees for the sake of the balance sheet.

Cisco is shady af. For a company that prides themselves in ethics to customers makes managers sign NDAs not to talk about LRs to their teams.

I didn’t think it could get much worse.

To the person who said people stay because they can’t get another job:

I’ve worked with a few employees who fit that mold. But the vast majority of employees at Cisco can work where they choose. Change scares most people, employees never consider other options. Most employees don’t have an updated resume. The only time most employees think about their resume is when their job security is at risk. Everyone doesn’t hate their job or wish they had a new one. All reasons why some awesome people lose it if they get cut. It’s a horrible situation that happens far too often.

Even after all the unfairness each and every one of us still stays here. Because we can't get a job outside. There are many people I know including me who have been looking for more than a few months. Yet we act like we want a change here when it's been like this for years

Who at Cisco thinks anyone on the ELT has a shred of decency? Much less altruism…

Yeah 100%, it’s clear this ELT says one thing but means another. At the end of the day, I don’t care too much it’s a good paying job and great WLB but still fu---d

No doubt, it all makes sense now. It’s pretty much confirmed what people were calling out when the whole shutdown was announced.

Yep, just moving that expense into a different quarter by mandating using PTO. We all know it wasn't for the good of the ICs.
