Thread regarding JPMorgan Chase & Co. layoffs

"Role removed" is stupid excuse

My colleague, a nice man and high performer has been laid off. ED told him that his role has been removed.

Why Chase didn't upgrade skill of such outstanding employee if role was endangered?
We are not a body shop that people will be kept when there is work and kick them out when there is no work.

Senior Leadership is sacrificing employees to show profit and secure high bonus.

This was not expected from Chase at all.

When recruited in NYC I was told that I could move to DC "day one" if I liked to take care of an elderly family member. I asked before I agreed to the offer.. not a problem. Then after about 9 months after got to know the team, etc. I asked to make the move and they rejected it saying I could only give to NYC where I was or Texas. I complained, laid off a month later. And I am not a low performer. JPM is a cult with no concern for employees and it starts at the top.

It's never about performance. Chase especially in tech is purely run on politics.
Management don't want to get sc--wed so they have to keep the hiring-firing cycle healthy

What market was this in? I know Tempe and Plano markets were laying off last year. There was a question about the Tampa area on another forum, but heard they were giving the option to transfer to other departments.

Executive director's in jpmorgan are the worse than pit viper's. They will go to any extent to push people whose appearance they don't like. HR will support these executive director's

I understand its frustrating. But Its the oldest excuse in the book. Basically, the role is being eliminated because the manager didn't want to keep the employee.

Looking from outside, you or I wouldn't know what was really going on. Was the manager new and didn't get along with the employee? Was the Employee getting too comfortable in his role and wasn't contributing meaningfully anymore? Changes in Business resulting in not enough work?

Hopefully, they can find another opportunity internally.

Not expected from Chase at all? Are you serious or kidding? If they own a ship that has been intercepted by Feds with 1.3 Billion of Co----e not too long ago, them having ties to Epstein (paying close to 300M fine) or paying 13B in fines relating to 2008 global financial crisis), you did not expect that of Chase???, Funny. All that information is avail to google for more details. Stay awake my friend.

I know a couple of talented folks who were recently laid off for exactly the same reason. It’s not about the work , they find unusual reasons to justify laying people off .
