Thread regarding Cisco Systems Inc. layoffs

Hope the go woke go broke guys are happy now!

We are definitely moving away from all things woke!

Enjoy the race to the bottom of all Big Tech. This is the future; lay-offs every few months, cutting of benefits, offshoring, ban on free speech (certain 'political' topics that not allowed if it doesnt suit the status quo), indifferent to impact on humanity, restructuring etc. Leaving only human robots devoid of personality or humanity to push the buttons.

All in the name of squeezing more profits and growth which is impossible to maintain long-term anyway. That's what comes with the fall of the empire and late stage capitalism.

Welcome to the Hunger Games.

I meant that if discrimination isn’t regulated equally across all races, it is not equity and inclusion. But you can’t even discuss it without people judging your morals or even this forum deleted your posts.

You don’t get my point. I’m saying those corporate executives you refer to use woke to excuse their actions that are actually driven by corporate greed.
Plus I do think there is favoritism and bias within races and cultures. Not for all, but for some - regardless of race.
The problem isn’t the individual who does this. The problem is if discrimination isn’t applied equally across all races then it’s not equity by definition.
And you have no evidence this isn’t happening. By the way, I’m not a white male so I could benefit from this. I just think it’s wrong.

People are not getting laid off because of their race, or because they’re old white guys. You can’t prove that.

It’s just a story you’re telling yourself to ease the sting.

Just like every time there is a Black, Hispanic, or woman exec it is not a DEI hire. Believe it or not they may actually be more qualified than you to run the company.

Don’t lose sight of the true issue: corporate greed. The more we are divided and blame things on anything other than that, the easier you’re making it for these rich executives to get away with playing with our livelihoods like a deck of cards.

We can be smarter than that, and stop blaming each other. Same story repeated as labor movements, wish we’d learn by now.

For those disliking my post about woke being misused, explain how layoffs and offshoring jobs which leaves those in this country regardless of race or immigration status with few if any employment options that align with their skill set. And explain that when people are selected to be laid off or not because of their race or national origin, how is that not discrimination?
It’s sad how the focus on ideals is blinding people to reality.

Woke in its original meaning is good. But it’s been hijacked and used to excuse Corporate practices that are far from what woke was intended to do. Saturating the market helps no one in this country of any race or immigration status. Laying off people hurts everyone, even if the marginalized races are protected from layoffs. What about others still looking or recently graduated? They are of all races and some are international students. When there are no jobs in this country, they hurt too.
Cheap offshore labor hurts everyone including those from these countries who are basically creating slave labor.
Woke isn’t the problem. It’s how woke is being used to create division, distraction, censorship and moral excuses for immoral acts. It’s taking something that started good and using it for bad.
We need to separate woke from how woke us being misused.

Why would we bother defending it to you people at this point? You'd call a cure for cancer a woke plot if it saved people that are, in your eyes, "the wrong kind of people".

Look at how you're reacting right now. Layoffs are coming and people's livelihoods are at risk, and the executives are getting away with it, and all you care about is screaming about how the numbers are all wrong for your posts and throwing in some weak attempts at insults.

Woke is a necessary part of techno feudalism … and DEI provides the needed stick to keep the masses from questioning the change. There is no virtue in woke — it’s quite the opposite.

You guys are making it too easy for the greedy executives, blaming social justice, but the real problem is this:

Cisco has found it difficult to compete in new cloud and ai era. Yet, executive pay is at an all time high. Cisco continues to make profits from older business but LRs are to maximize profits and for stockholders.

Quit making up d-mb reasons and stop ignoring the one right in front of you. Corporate greed plain is the cause plain and simple.

But sure keep giving rich executives a free pass and voting for those politicians who give corporations big tax breaks while they continue to cut jobs here.

Can any company afford to keep over 600+ people devoted to Social Justice? It has nothing to do with what we are supposed to be focused on.

When they get back to hiring for the right reasons companies will start to prosper again … minorities making majority decisions has ki-led the corporate world and caused more damage than they will ever realise
