Thread regarding L3Harris Technologies layoffs

I wish they told us about layoffs

It’s not fair only management gets to know when layoffs happen
though i guess that goes for any company

If an employer violates your collective bargaining agreement (CBA) when giving you a notice of termination, you may have a wrongful termination claim. CBAs are contracts negotiated between a union and an employer, and typically include terms related to layoffs. that is according to the US Labor department. and the real world, these claims mostly go unfulfilled. and the company and the union know it. as for the allegations in clifton, this is nothing new for that location. all of it will go away, when they bulldoze that place to the ground.

wow! the last poster must have worked in clifton. so did i. and he or she is absolutely right. about everything. this feckless loser Union President should invest his payoff money in a good plastic surgeon so no one will recognize him when he leaves that job. of course, if this were a fair world. he would be in jail.

Being in a union doesn't mean you're going to be notified of a layoff. The company is required to notify the union president only. it's up to him to tell his members. If the company privately asks him to keep it quiet, he will. Ask the union people in Clifton who were laid off. They found out when an HR person, a security guard and a union representative tapped them on the shoulder and escorted out. The union president complied because he was probably afraid the company would take back the big flat screen TV they gave him for his office. If you work in Clifton you know what I mean. But if you are one of the people that elected him, you got what you deserve. He and his friends will keep their jobs while you are kicked to the curb. Nice..

You don't get early notice since you are not part of a union. Besides, there is nothing that says a company has to let you know ahead of time (if they are paying the 60 day pay once you are notified of being laid off). And you also do not need to give two weeks notice if you want to quit on the spot. It works both ways.

It's very simple. the company doesn't want you leaving until they're ready to throw you out. until then they're just going to treat you like a crop of mushrooms. Keep you in the dark and feed you cr-p.
