I know skip levels are supposed to be normal and happen regularly but I've never had one in the 5+ years and three departments I've worked here. Plus the meeting is scheduled on a Thursday so I wanted to check and see if anyone was laid off during what was supposed to be a skip level? Honestly it'd be kind of a relief but the job market is good awful and the holidays are coming up.

Mine was a regular scheduled meeting, with leader and co-worker. 1st person to sign in was the skip level, 2nd was HR
Mine was "Transition Planning"
My layoff (along with thousands of others across the company in June 2020) was also titled “check in”
My lay off in '23 was called a "check-in" with just my PL. Once we logged on, her manager (who wasn't on the invite) signed into the Zoom.
My lay off was listed as “Check In”
It wasn't listed as a skip level is was listed as a check in back in Dec '23 and yes first and last time I met with my leaders boss Fern after working under him for years.
