Intel Has Fallen Way Behind AMD in 1 Key Area

Intel (INTC 3.12%) stumbled through manufacturing issues in the past, and only now is it starting to right the ship. The company's entire desktop CPU lineup is still made on its Intel 7 manufacturing process, which is based on the same 10nm node that was originally slated for high-volume production in 2016. Meanwhile, rival AMD (AMD 4.52%) has taken advantage of TSMC's manufacturing progress with each new release.

I think the 10nm decision (density jump) was taken by a Sr Fellow. It made Intel miss so many times.

Some of the Fellows in the Server group made the decision 5 years back to stick to Intel process for Server products. This decision has severely hurt our competitiveness, market share & revenues. The justification was the costs associated with TSMC wafers without realizing the market share erosion and data center revenue losses. Meanwhile such technology experts are busy making similar decisions.
