When people tell me the job market su-ks, I don't know if I should laugh or cry. Widen your search, people, and you'll realize that there are plenty of available jobs. They might not be in the industry you expected, but they are there. And they pay just as well.

that's d-mb, the job market is tight everywhere with the exception of low paid non skilled jobs.
Agree with OP. After working 60hr weeks, my manager started gaslighting, harassing, we-ponized insights against me, and basically told me to stop working. I found a new job with slightly higher pay and benefits within a few days, but it took a month to secure an actual start date. I retired right before the current offers and missed out on the big $$$, but don't care because Intel is simply toxic on so many levels. If you've been keeping up on skills and networking, it's fairly easy to adapt and find work before you jump.
As a Mechatronic Tech, I completely agree with OP. So many transferable skillets and jobs are available in many industries.
It's the SW/PowerPoint/laptop based "tech" individuals I'd be more concerned for.
I’m an IT person with transferable skills but still not many places hiring now
Thanks Pat. I hope this advice you're giving makes you feel better and all of this guilt is not to inconvenient for you.
This is not a typical layoff, it's more than 15% and which semiconductor companies are hiring more 15,000 people over the next few months? When it is this severe, the entire industry lays off at the same time and hire freeze at the same time too.
@fub+1u7DJnX7, your comment is a typical stupid Intel employee response. OP is 100% correct. I did what he is suggesting and not having your problem of being unemployed.
Only medical would pay as much
Says who? Did you get a job already or are you living in your parents’ basement?
