New H1B job postings in RTP

Damn ELT, how is it that you need to take time to work on the LR lists and have the necessary resources available to the impacted workforce, but you already know how many jobs you want to fill with H1B's?!

I visited the RTP campus and saw that there were 72 pages of required notifications for job postings dated 8/15/2024! Every single page said "multiple positions available".

You can't fill Project Manager, Software Engineer, or Technical Lead roles with US workers in the US?! You need H1B's with "special skills" you can't find in the US? That's pretty damn cold that you're letting go 7% only to rehire, and especially to hire H1B's.

I normally don't have issues with H1B's when they fill a hard to fill job, but I know for a fact that any one of the Project Manager's getting the boot in the next 30 days can do the Project Management job that is posting in the lobby of RTP-8.

WTF, ELT?

It could be for the labor certification- I believe for visa renewals also they need to test the market and publish the job openings. So these positions might be people already working, for their visa renewal. If that’s not the case then it’s real b.s. !

The issue isn't with H1B visa holders—how many have you personally encountered? 20? We're talking about over 7,000 people who will be impacted + 4,000 a few months ago.

I'm sure I've personally encountered way more than 20. Whether they were H1B or Green card holders, I've never asked. And some of them could have been American born, 1st Generation because their parents used H1B or GCs. Frankly, I didn't care. They were hired and they did their jobs, same as I did.

If they're impacted, they and their families have just 60 days to leave the country regardless of their children's schools, mortgage, ..etc.

They have 60 days to find another job OR leave the country. Someone on my team quit due to H1B issues and took another job.

The point of the OP's post was the optics of LR'ing 7% of our workforce and posting the required notifications to hire H1B's the very next day! 72 pages of notifications stating "multiple positions available". How many of the 7% could be re-hired into these "multiple available positions" instead of hiring H1B's? This is an American company posting jobs in America, so why aren't they even trying to make it look like they're trying to consider internal job migrations like they did previously over the past few years?

It's all about corporate greed and trapped labor. It's not about racism, or hiring whites, it's about hiring people who can't quit without notice, can be pressured into working free overtime, etc. Cisco and American corporations need to do better.

Many of these H1B workers likely had stable jobs at other companies in the US before they were lured here, only to find themselves vulnerable to layoffs. And remember, they aren't immune to these layoffs. If they're impacted, they and their families have just 60 days to leave the country regardless of their children's schools, mortgage, ..etc.

The real problem, I believe, lies in the company's unwillingness to reduce the dividends paid to investors. It's easier for them to cut jobs and shift those salaries to the dividend payout rather than make any sacrifice on investor returns

But will H1B even want to come here? Knowing that clown LT has over fired this year and not processing anyone?

Whole point of H1B is to work for cheap to have a chance for processing. Cisco can’t process. Why would h1b come here then?
