Not to minimize any one particular person's RIF situation because it's all scary and terrible but I'd like to offer a small silver lining.

YOU DONT HAVE TO BE INSURED BY US ANYMORE!!! your auths might go through. Your claims might get paid. Your providers won't tell you how much they hate dealing with your company. Customer service still exists because it hasn't been rifed.

Definitely a perk. You never know if a Job is greener on the other side, but you damn sure the actual insurance product and services are better.

Not any consolation. At my new job, the insurer is Anthem.

I took a look at what my boyfriend is getting at his job, and United Healthcare is much worse as far as benefits go.

Went to a competitor to work… the employees have Anthem medical insurance.

Im so sorry. There are so many of us in this boat. Check into medicaid in your state. This is why it exists. I know people on it but it varies by state and hopefully you'll have more/better options than an anthem plan.

Do not agree. I was RIF'd, I have a medical condition with no insurance now. I don't know what / where the silver lining is. I keep cancelling medical appts as I no longer have an income or insurance and also don't know how I would be paying or specialists visits, medication as well as infusion treatments which I have to take every 3months. and by the way I am still job searching.
I agree insurance can be a headache but at least I was sure of paying less for coinsurance.
I am not sure what the silver lining is.

Funny you mention it. That is the first thing I said to my spouse. We has so much trouble using the insurance. Thank God my spoused insurance is not this company.

Not big on the rif reference but if you guys don't think other insurers are better at actually being insurers as opposed to offshore conglomerates than we are, that's crazy. I'm pretty sure our last priority is actually paying claims, which is literally what an insurer is supposed to do.

Sorry, no, it’s not a good consolation, because many of us now have no insurance at all. Also, Anthem’s competitors’ aren’t much, or any better, that’s just delusional.
