Just become transgender. You will almost certainly be guaranteed a job. And if you become a black transgender, they cannot fire you by federal law.

One of the sr director with ~250 people under him got LR notice, used medical condition to counter LR. Still getting paid without work or team to manage.

If you take extended leave, know that you're basically resigning from the company. They won't hire you back. It gives you medical for a year and that's it. They say it's a perk that everyone can take but the reality is that you leave and won't get a package. It's true that you can look for a new opportunity to come back to but the chances of finding something are non existent.

pauses all RSU vesting while you are on this LOA.

That’s interesting. I was looking for RSUs to vest. Plan aborted.

I think you are referring to Personal Leave of Absence. I took this for a year and came back after finding a position in a different group. Cisco's cost is only Medical (100% paid by company for 12months) and pauses all RSU vesting while you are on this LOA. Since it is unpaid, I think it will make you less or a target but you never know for sure. Bigger issue: You can't just come back to your old position, you have to find one like a new applicant. Otherwise, your job is considered eliminated. All the best!
