The guidance documentation is clear about finding another job and that severance package is on separation date. I'm too anxious to wait on a response from HR. What if one were to find an EXTERNAL job before the 60 days? Does that mean no severance will be offered?

go/sev didn’t work either. I do appreciate the suggestion.
Try go/sev. That worked at one point too.
I tried go/severance and it was a dead page.
Whatever severance offer they give be sure to have it reviewed by an attorney
The severance policy is online in the company website.
Just a helpful tip if you interview internally and receive an offer, you also forfeit the severance regardless if you take it or not…
Haven't gotten the actual contract but concerned there might be a clawback clause. Considering severance alone is worth several months of pay or a full year for Bank, is take the full 60 days worth the risk? Personal judgement call of course.
Why on earth would you tell them you got an external role?
It sure does. ‘Stay’ for the 60 days. You have zero accountability and plenty of time to decompress and start the search about 30-4 days in. Time it right and get the full benefit. Also, don’t go for anything internally. They have the right to offer you a lower salary and if you turn it down, you forfeit your severance.
Bank's severance pay is too good to refuse... what a gift! thanks USAA!
@ezn+1uHCTNvN, you could also get hired internally, risk getting fired and no severance at all.
The external job is the trip up. I'm confident I can find something well before the 60 days and I would WELCOME that with open arms. But given the severance package I'm looking at, it's at least several months pay and that's difficult to want to give up.
Thank you! Per your comment, "If you exit the company you will still receive severance even if you find another role at a different company." will the severance date remain 60 days out, or does it change to the day prior to my new job's start date? Or another way of saying it, do I also get the 60 days in full, even if my start date is prior to the 60 days?
Typically it’s a better option to take a severance and find an external job. Even if you return to USAA, as an external candidate, you have a better leverage to negotiate for a higher salary. At least that’s what an HR rep told me.
If you find a job internally, you won’t receive severance. If you exit the company you will still receive severance even if you find another role at a different company.
