I was just told someone has an accommodation to work from home because she lives a good distance from the office. Does the company still offer this? If so, how far away do you need to live to get this accommodation?

No one cares where you live, you need to be in and when they did care, it was 50 miles and then moved up to 60 miles. Again, company doesn’t care about you, you have to make the best decision and decide what you will do. If you leave they likely won’t even back fill your role. You and I and all of us aren’t important at all.
@aodb+1uJ7YwMd - our group was told same. 30 miles. If we chose to live further away, we'd still need to come in. My teammate who got married to a person 2 hours away was told she had to come in every day. This was pre-Covid when they were winding down MyWork to try to end it.
Which again was a mis-information disaster as some managers said it was ended, while others still have people in the program.
They can't even get on the same page.
I clearly remember being told that I had to live within 30 miles from the office. If I opted to move outside of the 30 mile limit I would lose my job. I'm permanent WFH due a medical condition. I have worked remote since 2003. With 21 years of working remote, why does it matter where I live?
BM didn't have an answer, nor was he familiar with the requirement. I asked during a town hall.
I was MyWork until 2014 but had been a road warrior previously travelling for all the transitions. My team was spread all over the country but the week the decided I was to RTO, I was laid off so it worked out for me since it made zero sense to drive an hour to the office when there was no one there that I actually worked with in my role.
@lhk+1uJ7YwMd - not entirely true. My colleague got married (pre-pandemic) -- moved to live with her new husband (the gall!) -- and now gets to drive to the office 2 hours each way.
She is a top performer/good ratings/well-liked but does not work with anyone in that office and our team is spread all over the world.
Go figure.
Generally it is only true if the building the employee is assigned to closes, and the next closest work location is a significant distance away. People who decide to move to a new state/city without permission are typically expected to make the drive or resign.
Like anything here, though, if you are friends with the right people chances are you can get a LOB exception.
The HR department has deferred this all to the LOB.. The LOB decides. Its like a dangling carrot... I called HR about it and they keep saying talk to your LOB and manager blah blah...
This is true in my case. Again, LOB specific.
HR has me driving into Tampa from 96 miles away for 192 miles round trip. So yeah, fake news on that one.
Yes the bank does still offer this. The minimum requirement is you have to be at least 50 miles from the nearest BC of Hub.
