Thread regarding Cenovus Energy layoffs

Middle Management is the Issue

Middle management reports up and fills the upper management with lies and deception - report what they want and lie on how they report- they need to implant a mole into each district to see how middle management is actually treating and lying to some of the workers, I have been told one of the worst areas may be the Rainbow Lake district lots of double standards going on and just all around really low morale. I have friends that work up there and here there may be a large number of people leaving shortly. Nothing like being short handed and light on experience when the cold weather hits ,

Cenovus Rainbow Lake is now the worst place I am working in now. I have been here many years and Like previous threads from anonymous its a buddy system and back stabbing. This is due to phony Sr Supervisors and Middle managers and poor support only to blame others "frontline workers" for their own incompetency's. I have been through many leader and superintendents but these are far the worst. Wake up Mark Nelson and see what's going on here! Are only hope for moral boost is we get devested.

The Husky Managers must have taken a masterclass on nepotism and how to destroy morale and motivation of dedicated staff. They dangle these pretend “development opportunities” and then just end up hiring their friends and former colleagues. It’s quite the little game of post & hire (their buddies) they have going. It’s hard to understand how these people could place such little value on their own integrity and character.

I know people who have reported mismanagement to the integrity line and absolutely nothing came of it. What’s the point?

Cenovus managers and directors all manage up looking for their next move. They couldn’t care less about the employees. The HR reps just manage to the VPs and wouldn’t know an employee’s name on a $100 bet. It’s a show up to work place and that’s about it. How
Many VPs have cycled through well delivery or Supply Chain with an expected time span of 2 years then move on to the next role. They check the box on their resume and then on they go. None of them care about the workers, they care about their resumes.

Senior executives are blind to the fact that the moral is so low since 2022 is has gotten worse, but yet turn a blind eye. All these health, we need to hear your voice surveys are a farce! waste of time. Getting very hard to show up for work and attend meetings these days to fake "I really make a difference". But in reality, we are just another number. More employees need to submit their stress and concerns to HR, If only HR has the guts to forward to the executives.

To the team, a leader who displays a double standard is not trustworthy and not inspiring. It is as simple as that. The leader who creates wide double standards can’t establish a culture of collaboration and this behavior will slowly erode the camaraderie and work ethic as employees will soon say to themselves and then aloud, “Why should I put in that extra effort ? Working in an environment like this is disappointing, dejecting, and demotivating to most employees. I believe the worst situation in all of business is when you have a team of people who have checked out but refuses to just quit.
