Thread regarding Dell Inc. layoffs

thought this was a layoff site

thought this a layoff site. Why are people on here actually complaining about having to GO TO WORK. Maybe their should be another site for this called Woe Is Me I Still Have A Job. Sit here reading this stuff, you people are like pathetic. Wait until you are on the other side and realize perhaps the grass wasn't greener after all.

I would just consider it "value add".

"remember during covid when you could work remotely from home. How different would things have been if working remotely wasn't a thing, no internet, and you were not paid for two years because you weren't working. You'd be dying to get back to the office again."

What I remember in CSG is working 10+ hour days of pure stress. It wasn't easy when you had every account hound you for equipment that didn't exist. Then leadership takes away our 401K match, said they had to find options to save jobs, but reality kicks in and they pat themselves on the back for record profits! Oh, and towards the end, they mandate the vaccine. What a bunch of sc-mbags.

Only thing I can do is help promote: https://www.joinifpte.org/tech

Sign up if you want better everything as a Dell employee. We need this now.

Here's what no one thinks of when they get the notice. Have a note of your KPI's right now. Then you can update your resume after you get the cut. People think of personal contacts, but really that's on your LinkedIn. You won't remember your metrics.

Maybe a boomer, but boomer's are tough as we lived through many things....not like you snowflakes today. You need to be punched in the face.

The other side is that gut wrenching feeling that you get when you are told. Up until that moment, you don't have it. Then it hits. What are you going to do...your next move, tell your spouse, your kids. Life changes immediately. Even if you know it will happen (I have in the past) it still throws you. So since the first time, I NEVER keep any personal files on a work computer. I have less than a box load of stuff at my desk. For the very few people worth keeping track of, already have the contact info. So you can walk out (or be escorted) within minutes of being told. But never burn the bridge, that person telling you, even if you dislike them, might be someone you need for a reference or might work for them again. Be nice, say I know you are just doing your job and hopefully a new job for you isn't too far off. My first time? I had just broken dirt for a new house. A slight amount of stress.

I suspect what you are missing is that many of these discussions are predicated on people believing their potential job loss is imminent. The RTO thing is merely a means to force people to self-select and leave on their own
