@bqj can't really expect the executives to make their own coffee or schedule their own Outlook meeting invitations.

There are CEOs that care about that, but Shart isn't one of them. We are bailing on leases and selling buildings as fast as we possibly can without the wheels completely coming off. That's actually contributing to tanking CRE, not propping it up.

@fja+1uPY5BBM - Agree 100%... If we benefitted enough, then bring the Indian jobs back here to our own offices. I guess its not needed or important as we are forced to acknowledge.

The desire is to prop up commercial real estate. Nothing more.

I think in person collaboration can be very positive, but it clearly has not been the goal based on historical hiring patterns of geographically diverse teams. If they thought in person collaboration
was so important, then they would have been actively co-locating this whole time, which they aren't. It's just a lie to cover up the real reason: money. Gotta protect the value of those office buildings.

There is a particular financial firm that makes the Executive assistants come in five days a week, while everyone else is hybrid or remote.

All it will take is one major industry player or a disruptive newcomer and office work will be dead. It's incredibly inefficient and WFH would save massive amounts of money. The issue right now is that there's clearly a lot of collusion between the top players in banking. It won't last though, it's a matter of time before a CEO will value seizing the opportunity more than being the cool kid at dinner parties.
