Thread regarding Ford layoffs

RTO and Core LL6

Employees working on programs usually sit in collocated Team Rooms and do come to office 3 days/ week. They are in constant line of fire and hence add value. However, so called "Core" groups do not have dedicated work zone and they do not come to office regularly. Even LL6 in core groups rarely come to office... Even when they come for face showing and badge swiping, they leave in couple hours... Sadly, these LL6s are coasting to retirement and corrupting the culture of younger people they are supposed to lead by example. Absence of ownership and leadership at LL6 level , results in LL5 and above in a constant fire-fighting mode. LL5 and above have accountability and are stretched and Stressed.... they need to start delegating accountability down wards to LL6 instead of accepting upward delegation of decisions...

If you are experienced and good at your job you may not interact with core as much, when you are new cpmt you may end up with an ll6 in a lot of your meetings and multiple one on one meetings with them. When there are stop ship and recalls they support and they support globally . They may have been on calls for 4 hours prior or the night before or most of the weekend on another teams issues same as when a program team supports other time zones. The one core person is usually supporting every country and every program as needed.

This is not my experience, as an LL6 in a core group, I find myself more engaged as I need to be engaged in all or most of the programs my reports are involved with. You may only see me show up to meetings on your programs a couple of days a week but I’m with your peers on other days. If this is not the case for your LL6, it will show up eventually. I am peppered every Friday in my weekly with my LL5 on how my team is doing across all programs and need to explain progress on issues related to us or how I have otherwise helped that person and program advance,

@1KNV: LL6s in our org have several GSRs reporting to them- including some temporary agency hires. LL6s are mostly performing admin tasks ... and mostly WFH ...

What does LL6 in Ford even mean? You barely have a team and everyone under you is just doing their own thing without needing your input. As someone said LL6 is nothing more than a glorified gsr now thanks to business consultants who wanted flatter orgs..... Well now you have that so enjoy the burnout

Most LL6s have been rendered powerless. Many had their staffs removed and now they are nothing more than a Hugh paid GSR.
