Thread regarding Ford layoffs

I have gotten d-mber and more incompetent since I started working here

Been working in the workforce for 5+ years now and hands down working at Ford has been the biggest regret of my life ( a mistake I hope to come over with a better opportunity elsewhere some day soon)

  • Everyone is completely checked out. Meetings take weeks to months to happen, no one follows up or someone is always on vacation or out
  • Morale is below the basement. People are half asleep in meetings and just hoping their name isnt called
  • No growth/ cultural activities. There is no emphasis on wanting to have a team or people working together on a goal.

No real talent or ambitious folks want to be here. The only people here are coasters and people in LOC ( mainly in India) who are just parasites su-king dry the company

I have no idea how this company isnt bankrupt or heading there soon.

"If you are younger and currently working for Ford, you cannot be d-mber." - This needs a condition attached to it. No matter what age you are (but especially if you are under 35) if you've been at (or plan to be at) Ford for more than 3-5 years...yes you have some self assessment to do.

It's the industry......most folks with more than 2 brain cells go into an industry where intelligence and productivity are rewarded.....hi tech, biotech, Wall St., software etc. Automotive is a low margin, low growth industry and the best and brightest are steering far away from it.

Some of the worst people I ran across at Ford, moved to other companies, and I had to reject some of the offers because those same people would have been directly above me giving me the same he-l as they did at Ford. But do move on, there really is grass at other places don't worry about the shade of green.

If you work at Ford, you would already know we have a startup company within the company right now. It's called Model e. Now with the relocation of Model e to Michigan Central Station, the technology startup nature of Model e is even more apparent and we will get some needed distance from legacy Ford (Blue, Pro, and Industrial) and other non-growth activities in Ford. Excited for the future!

Try and find a start-up. A couple friends of mine have done that route and it is breakneck speed where you are expected to master the whole stack.

Honestly, having worked at several companies in my career, its kinda the same everywhere. Solution? Well start your own company and then you are to blame when it all goes to.... But I've been there as well, so the real solution? Still looking for it....but I am 5 years from retirement :-)
