I am working to position myself to leave ExxonMobil. Part of my plan involves training. Has anyone been forced to pay back money to the company when they quit for things like education reimbursement or moving allowances from expat repatriation?

I know a guy that left shortly after returning from an expat position.
Deloitte had done his taxes and EM was due a $30,000 tax refund. He started getting reminders to pay back the refund money. Then he received an email warning that his manager would be notified. He replied that he was no longer an employee and he did not care if they notified his management. The reminder emails stopped and EM never asked for that money again.
Even if you sign the paperwork and leave before the "time limit," you are under no obligation to repay them. Many people have left in the past, and the corporation tried to get repaid for education. Each and every single one had a lawyer send the company a letter to basically "cut it out." And each time, the corporation backed down.
Consult an attorney. The document you sign isn't ironclad.
Lol. Training at xom. Your plan is flawed
Leach much?
You will repay them if it’s still within the time limit you agreed to
There is usually some paperwork you have to sign that would have this info. Look through your files. I think there is a time limit so yes if you leave too early after they will ask you to repay them.
