NVIDIA & MediaTek Collaborate on 3nm AI CPU

NVIDIA is scheduled to give the keynote address at the 2025 CES in January. Expect big news. "According to reports from leakers on the Chinese social media site Weibo, Mediatek and Nvidia are collaborating on a 3nm AI CPU. IT Home shared a report from user "Mobile Chip Expert" today, claiming that the CPU is entering the tape-out phase of production this month, with mass production on track for late 2025."

NVIDIA will have lots of other news but expect to hear more of the 3nm AI CPU since this is CES. DELL, HP, MSFT and many other customers have been waiting for this for years since suffering in the shadows of Intel's continuous chip production failures and setbacks. NVIDIA is also doing exceptionally well on Blackwell (systems already installed at Microsoft with sales forecasts of 700,000 - 800,000 Blackwell systems for just Q1 2025!!

The aim of this chip may be AI everywhere: cellphone, laptop, deskstop opt and automobile. Only because of this Nvidia needs a partner that is good in mobile and low power.

Intel had to catch up to AMD multiple times… they had some good leads but not always.

Why does NVIDIA need MediaTek? NVIDIA can do it by themselves. Maybe they are too busy with GPU products?

"NVIDIA has no track record of building CPU's"
@bje must be a fellow.

Q: Who would be foolish enough to directly challenge Intel in CPUs.
A: Everyone because intel is and always has been comprised of arrogant di--heads.

What? Did you think the world was going to wait around for Intel to crack the next node or figure out how to break in fabs using processes it has never used before. Who the fu-k do you think you are?

@bje sure.
It's id--ts like you is why Intel is where it is today. Completely delusional and arrogant. Jensen himself is worth more than Intel.

Customers have given up on working with Intel id--ts who would rather focus on talking sh-t playing stock buyback games. They also got tired of waiting for Intel to get its sh-t together so several companies began designing CPUs with the coaxing of the laptop OEMS. Say goodby “DebtZilla”

This makes all the sense that Qualcomm wants to merge with Intel.

Haha. Someone still thinks we are "Chipzilla" and "King of the CPU's". You may have gotten away with being an ignorant pr--k when you had something to offer, now...your comments are just pure comedy.

If you aren't already invested in NVDA it's not too late. AI is already displacing a lot of jobs, might as well make money on the stocks while you can.

No track record?!? Grace was already mentioned in the highend, so I'll add Tegra that's used in the Nintendo Switch.

Right.... no track record. @bje must be a time traveler from the 1990s, since the mindset is from that era, that's the only explanation for the garbage posted.

The first response here is from Intel. It is actually a program office within Intel provide contrary responses to any and all news that makes Intel look bad. It is a sad job within the Intel Corporate Communications Group, but hey, someone has to do it and they have more and more work every week.

NVIDIA has no track record of building CPU's... does anyone think they have the talent to actually compete in CPU against Intel, Chipzilla?? Intel has always had the best CPU designers in the world.. no one would be foolish enough to directly challenge us. They might play in niche sandboxes like AI .. or mobile, but Intel is the undisputed CPU King.
