@3wvi Dude get your head out your a-s. Layoffs are always happening here. Just because you didn’t witness it doesn’t mean it didn’t happen. Like you’ve said it’s a big company. A month or two ago three rows of people suddenly disappeared and that’s just from my side of my floor. I have no idea what’s going on the other side of my floor let alone the other floors I don’t even go on.

FINALLY , Aug 26 (not Sep 13) came true. What is the score now - one out of 10 ?
The "ALL CNY" email distribution list decreased by 49 people today
At least 23 people were let go from Oriskany today. We also have no choice but to 'work from home' simply because we don't have an office to report to due to it being closed in December, UNLESS we relocate out of state to where there is an office for us to report to, like Pittsburgh, Lake Mary, etc.
Oriskany took a hit today! There was at least 23 people let go today.
There may be some dead weight BUT, BNY routinely lays off more people than most companies on a regular basis. You mean to tell me that ALL of those thousands of workers laid off each year were bad employees? NONSENSE. Most are older workers who are being replaced w/ cheap, offshore labor. This happens at other firms but not to the degree it does at BNY. Its CONSTANT.
Read through the lawsuits and complaints - most of the people getting fired have had good performance reviews. Their only crime? Their age, gender, or race. F BNY
BTW- the CEO, Robin Vince was on CNBC bragging about how the company has such great culture that they offer staff free coffee!!! What a joke.
@2zbt what offices were wiped out today? And don’t say Oriskany - 90% of them are still ‘working’ from home
Do managers have any say in this? Like, could I volunteer as tribute and take the L rather than be the one left behind to absorb all the work?
@2hr I remember back in March 2020 receiving an email to work from home but that was due to COVID..and I never returned! Left BNWhy in 2021.
So Monkeypox incoming..?
@2xis We're in the era of entire offices being wiped out, this isn't just about low performers anymore. People's actual lives are being impacted.
Please go be obnoxious elsewhere.
All the down votes on the posts regarding some of the layoffs being deserved and necessary are funny - The down voters apparently think the company should just continue to employ useless workers that provide no support and do no work
@2shu sometimes people just deserve it. There are people that do absolutely nothing but push numbers around to make it look good - if you aren’t doing anything productive then you absolutely should be let go!
To the individual who was celebrating a layoff-you’re an awful mess.
@2cqo+1uayaikG - very doubtful clown. Aww feel like nog man cause mommy let you br---t feed until you were in high school. So scary. Bet with milk rotted teeth you have a good dental plan
@2cqo+1uayaikG - not a man bi--h and i bet i could beat your azz. The stupidity from you and others on this site is annoying as f-k. Go do your work so the rest of us dont have to pick it up for you.
@2wci
Look at the little man sitting behind his keyboard calling people names. You haven’t been punched in the mouth in a while and it shows.
Usually the universe allows people like me to “adjust” people like you. Unfortunately for you the universe is not anonymous. I suggest you keep your dental plan up to date.
@2nme+1uayaikG - compliance
Queue 42….
@2cpd
I was not let go but that is a rotten thing to say. A lot were.
What departments in Oriskany were hit today?
Was happy to hear of 1 individual in particular that was let go. They were a pain in the a$$! Good riddance! You won’t be missed!
@2sip What non growth center is hiring? I thought it was all frozen or new spots from people leaving were moving offshore or to growth locations.
And in walks a newly hired analyst on this sad day in a non growth center. The constant kicks in the face by this company is reaching a new level !!
For those impacted, apologies.
Do we know if these are arbitrary or if we are losing teams
Looking at the pillars and the part about culture:
‘Our Culture
Everything we do depends on our people’
It would seem everything management and HR does these days depends on people….. slashing them to show temporary gains that is.
what's left of Oriskany hit hard this morning know of 13 so far let go.
It has started in Pittsburgh 08-26 9:20AM EST
well, that was fast - Wilmington office - I just got riff'd
What difference does it make to confirm location, etc. it’s not identifying anyone in particular
Good luck today, be strong if you are impacted. This too shall pass.
Why are people asking for specific departments? You know that it would be less than intelligent for people to identify themselves on this site, right?
For those of you who received notification to stay home, what department(s) are you in?
@2hrf - My email says: "Everyone should work from home on Monday 8/26. Submit an in office exception if you need to."
To answer your question, both. The last few rounds of this, they just told the entire team to stay home to avoid the spectacle. Also, in most cases there is no HR in the office to handle these things in-person.
We won't know who or how many until they disappear.
@1pqw Mr 42 go away!!! This is a forum to discuss layoffs no matter how big or small. For those of us at shrinking centers the threat is very big and very real and being done slowly until all offshore team members are fully trained and everyone left is laid off and the site is closed. Someone who claims to be as intelligent as you should understand that.
Who received the email to stay home, people who will be displaced or coworkers who will remain? What does the email say?
@1kyj Uhhhhh actually didn't need my fingers for this puzzle, just some basic reading comprehension. Thanks for the suggestion though.
Updated Fri, Jan 13, 2023 (Reuters) - "Bank of New York Mellon Corp is planning to cut around 3% of its workforce this year"
https://finance.yahoo.com/news/1-bny-mellon-cut-1-162258795.html
I'll break it down for you, you see the part that says "this year" and the date of the article is the first month of 2023?? That actually implies that the cuts were planned for 2023. I know it's tricky.
Uhh… yeah. The 3% layoff guidance was forward looking by the Bank for 2024 so we have 2% left this year due to the two sub 1% layoffs in January and February. Maybe count on your fingers to keep the years straight? Well it might help I guess.
I happen to know someone scheduled for layoff in a non growth center in September. What’s not accurate is that the people getting let go are all getting fired. Some are getting laid off due to corporate consolidation of locations.
Some of my group was also told to stay home tomorrow. Recipients of the email were from NYC, Pitt, and Wilmington.
My team members located in Wellesley were told to stay home tomorrow
