Thread regarding Wells Fargo & Co. layoffs

Wells Fargo has become too stressful for me

It's always something. Every single day. Layoffs, PIPs, benefit cuts, threats, gaslighting... It's too much for me. I know work is not supposed to be fun, but this has reached the opposite extreme. In fact, I think that I'm ready to leave the banking sector as a whole. I've had enough.

Hells Fargo is pure evil. They destroy the lives of customers and employees. The bank should be broken up. The scandals never end.

Get out and regain your sanity. Don't sell yourself short. Take a pay cut, simplify your life even if it means downsizing and regain control.

Look for jobs in city, county and state. They treat employees like humans. Seriously, there is life after Wells - I am one who moved on and am now treated humanely (by the state job I have).

I was about 60 seconds from rage quitting. Then I came to my senses.

Don’t worry about things you can’t control. Nothing you can do about layoffs or reorgs or stupid sh@t

Do the best with what you can control.
If things don’t get done on time because of process or whatever. So be it. I’m not going to stress bc some dipsh1ts are more worried about some BS vs actually getting things done

If all else fails and you’ve had enough. Find another job.

There's nothing you can do to get me to walk away from my years worth of severance Charlie. Start writing checks, or shut your trap.

I almost felt like just quitting before being laid off.
Then I started looking at my career in general, areas where I lacked knowledge (such as AI code generation) and IT management. I started "upskilling" myself. I realized I had to unlearn a lot.
Don't fall for the saying that Wells Fargo is just like any other bank.
They are not. Today JPM is at its high... WFC is just meandering. One is a learning institution, getting 60K employees on a proprietary ChatGPT AI model, the other ... just meandering. I don't think this will end well.

I am guessing most of us know hopping from WF to another publicly traded financial institution would be like cutting off our nose to spite our face.

I make a very deliberate effort to be thankful when I see my paycheck got deposited, but no hope or desire to continue my career here. I figure Q1 at the latest I will be told buh-bieeee!

Until then...trying not to lean on one of life's many vices for comfort on a daily basis.

What's an example of gaslighting at Wells?

purposely not giving credit for work done and associating it with another team member. close enough?

While you have job, try outside and move on. I did and now I am stress free. I really want to get layoff for the severance package , but the stress was taking my time away from family.

This is your regularly scheduled post by HR to get you to voluntarily resign without severance.

I don't disagree with your reasoning as I have been there. I did actually do something that has helped greatly as I await my inevitable discharge from WF servitude. Keep a log of all of the things that hit you every day like the ones you mention. List what happened, who was involved and the impact on you personally and professionally. Review each day while watching the national news. By the end of that 30 minutes my list seems somewhat trivial in comparison and after a couple of weeks there are not as many items on the list driving me crazy. I'm not saying you are wrong. Our work environment is designed to get people to leave for sure. This has worked for me to cope and start adjusting to a new employment picture soon enough. Oh and I smile every time my boss is on video with me telling me about my latest transgression. Drives her nuts.
