Thread regarding Intel Corp. layoffs

Was asked by manager why I want to leave

I said all the usual stuff like not trusting the senior leadership, lack of transparency etc. However on reflection it really comes down to one thing, not feeling safe. I have worked for various companies from startup with 3 employees and other MNC with 100k+ and this place is the first time I don't feel safe.

Been in intel 12 years and saw the worst of ACT, seeing friends go with little to no warning and over the last few years the rounds of CPM. This is round 5 for my group and honestly I had enough. The constant sense of fear and anxiety of will this be it or not.

What had made you apply?

I made a "leave Intel if" list after deciding I should quit during Christmas vacation. I told myself that I would leave if 3 of the things on this "big bad list" happened. Well, 3 happened, so I resigned. I looked at it today and was able to check 2 more off. The only prediction left is Intel being dropped from the Dow. I think that's likely.

Duh… did you say “because the whole company is going to sh-t”?

Teachers pet… lol. Someone reports me to my manager on petty items. I really don’t understand how he enables the culture.

What I value in employers:

  • good compensation
  • growth potential, both for the company and myself
  • job security
  • people around smarter than me

All 4 simultaneously are rare, but I'd expect at least 2-3, Intel is 0/4.

No faith that Intel will pull out of this

Don’t want to be around for all this stuff and don’t want the extra work when people leave

Thought I had graduated from high school decades ago only to realize Intel was high school for "adults"...too much drama, cliques, teachers pets, etc.

Had enough and want to actually be surrounded by adults
