Thread regarding Wells Fargo & Co. layoffs

12-month total

Is there any way to know how many folks were laid off in the last 12 months? Considering that we're having monthly cuts - sometimes even weekly - I'm guessing the number must be substantial.

It’ll be 10,000 or more for 2024. I know these are real people and that su-ks. But that’s some serious bloat. Shame that most of the savings will go to share buybacks instead of massive raises to keep talent. And I don’t mean me. I’m pretty good, but there’s a few really good people and it’s revealing that I often think “I wonder how long they’ll stay here?” instead of thinking “they’ll probably get a big promotion and pay raise.” I see managers that have been here for 30 years and I never think that they were the best. I assume they were the d-mbest, had no other options, and are surely very underpaid for their position. Think of all the better people over the years who came and left bc WF wanted them d-mb and committed.

Since March total headcount is down about 6,000, but offshore has hired about 2,000 new people in that time. So for the stats others have provided for longer time periods, the total U.S. reduction is significantly larger.

Won’t tell you how many were offshored or displaced and rehired overseas which is the real bleed.

I wrote down the headcount on 10/4/23 and it was 237,211. Today it is 228,077. Difference of 9,134. Not quite a year but gives you an idea.

We’re at roughly 7,178 people YTD for 2024. That’s solely based off of my tracking of the # of employees in the displacement AU.
